Critical injury 1d100 question

By Binderchk, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I'm new to RPG's and don't understand the roll a 1d100. The critical injury table goes to 151+. So how do you do this? What is a 1d100 dice? I have the app from FFG. What dice would these be?

Any explanation that explains this would be very much appreciated

Steve

A 1D100 is a die with 100 side, allowing for a result between 1 and 100. You can make this roll using a special pair of 10 sided dice available in the app (or at any game shop if you want plastic).

Some Talents, and Weapons Qualities allow you to add +10 to the 1D100 crit roll results. If the character being critted already has unhealed critical injuries, those also add +10 to the results for each one.

got it?

On the app, there's a section for "Active Dice" - underneath the General Dice, there are two dice to choose from: a d10 (that rolls the 10's, and a d10 that's set up to roll in place of the 1's. Those are the dice to roll on the Critical Injury Chart.

There are a few talents and Critical hits that add a +10 to the roll of the location, allowing rolls of 100+.

(Someone will probably explain it better than I did)

Let me see if I got this right. Using two d10's. One is 10,20,30, etc. the second one is single digits, 1,2,3, etc. so I'm assuming a 00 and a 0 is 100 then right? And the number over 100 are the weapon added damage.

Almost--

You don't add the weapon's damage to the critical hit roll. It's just that some things add to the roll. There are talents and weapon qualities which let you add +10, +20, etc to the roll.

Also, if you've already got one critical hit on your character and you take another critical hit, you add +10 to the roll. If you've got 2 crits already, you add +20 to the roll.

The higher numbers are far more severe so on your most basic roll there's no chance of dying outright or bleeding out.

Just checked out the other dice. I got it now. Thanks for the help.

Yes to the above. If you need more info about it, they talk about the ten-sided dice in detail in Chapter I: Playing the Game. Specifically, page 14 of Edge of the Empire

Ok. So the more critical hits you have the more added to the roll. Not all talents and weapons add to the roll, only ones that qualities that add these points.

I just read that in the rule book. Thanks for the help again

Don't forget that the weapon quality Vicious adds to the result as well.

So a Vicious 2 weapon adds 20 to the D100 result, on top of any additions from other Criticals already suffered.

Also the Talent Lethal Blows, and there is a Talent that reduces the percentile roll for critical hits that person takes. Good stuff.

Also just a note: A critical injury with an effect resulting in death is one of the only RAW methods of killing a character. Yes this means with the exception of weapons like Disruptors, or aggravated damage like you get from fire, vacuum, drowning, acid, ect. it's very hard to get a real permanent kill. So players and those BBEGs can usually come back.
