That's pretty much what I do and I haven't had any issues as of yet andi have played a few games up to 1000 points

Mine are layed out about the same. What ever works for you so you can track your ships and upgrades easily.

Pretty much how I set mine up as well. Though I usually put the squadron defense tokens above the cards instead of below them (keeps me from sweeping tokens off the edge of the table by accident) :-)

I try to keep my cards setup like this, but it doesnt always work, my table is exactly 3' wide, so no extra space on the table, so I end up having to use a tray which can get a little crazy trying to fit all the cards on and keep it organized.

Looks good to me as well and I set up my stuff similarly. I try to keep as many counters, dials and such as I can out of the play area. I hate to spoil the look of the ships and squadrons on the starfield with garish random game pieces.
