Not sure if this belongs in this part of the forum, but here it goes anyway. ![]()
Been reading most of the suggestion to the list and of course talking to local gamers, and it seems like the X Wing (despite the name of the game being X Wing) is not being used often. I find it ironic that the Z 95 has surpassed the ship that was meant to replace it in list. Also, the Y wing seems to have had a bit more longevity (even before the title card) than the X Wing.
So does the X Wing need a refit? And how would you go about it.
Sensors would be nice, but that would be copying the Tie Advance route.
Remove the torpedoes or astromech for a points reduction, however that copies the A wing.
Give it an extra modification, but that copies the Tie Interceptor.
Extra crew member mod? Well that sounds like the B Wing, and I don't recall and fluff about X Wings being 2 seaters. However I do recall a book I read that some earlier Y Wings had a crew member which I would love to see that.
I was thinking maybe a new rulecard (s) specifically for the X Wing. I remember in the Nintendo 64 Rogue Squadron game that you can close you S foils to get a some serious speed. Maybe an option (maybe activated during the new "decloaking stage") Allowing you to close the S foils giving all straight maneuvers and only straight maneuvers green; in addition to a boost action. However when the S foils are closed either no attack allowed or attack reduced by 1 or 2. In addition "Lock s foils to attack postion" will revert the X wing back to its normal attack, but also maybe...just maybe give it a barrel roll maneuver.
Not sure about the balance issues with this or even if this will make the X wings a more attractive option, but just curious how other players feel about the X wing.
