Star Wars... or Dambusters. Brilliantly done quick videos.

I've always maintained that 'star wars' borrows a lot from wwii British war movies.

The Imperial Music is a direct lift of the opening titles music of 'Ice Cold In Alex

More so the trench run directly lifts dialogue and imagery from dambusters.

If you've time have a look at these two, its worth it.

and the theme music 'lift'.... at 1.40 its near identical to the music in star wars

A real treat comes from doing that with Star Wars and 633 Squadron.

Great stuff thanks for the links!

There's no doubt that a 'realistic' space combat movie would be somewhat tedious. There would be no sounds and all beyond visual range attacks too. Dam(n) the physics and go for entertainment!

Im not arguing that the Dambusters was a big influence but ...

I once read that Lucas was talking to his team about repicating the sound of the space battle and in an early meeting someone said something like 'oh that will be easy there is no sound in the vacuum of space' and Lucas angrily told him 'it will be a **** boring movie if its silent for 30 minutes, in *my* universe there is sound in space'

Not sure how true that is but i smiled when i first heard it.

Sounds about right.
