Trying to make the Tansarii vets useful. By staying close together, the defensive half can draw crits off the predators, messing with target prioroty and the list brings 4 mangler cannons, which are a firepower upgrade at any range.

I ran a swam of them, no upgrades, with Serrisu in a casual tournament and did fairly well.

I played this at home for fun a couple times. Did surprisingly well with it:

3x Tansarii Point Veteran (17)
+ Heavy "Scyk" Interceptor (2)
+ Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
+ Shield Upgrade (4)
+ Predator (3)

I like the idea, but my brain doesn't like putting Draw Their Fire on a Heavy Scyk with a cannon - they're too expensive to play clay pigeon in my head.

I'd split the squad into two - the gun-carriers and their protectors:

Gun-carriers (use Focus action)

Laetin A'Shaera - Heavy Scyk, Heavy Laser Cannon, Stealth Device

Cartel Spacer - Heavy Scyk, Heavy Laser Cannon, Stealth Device

Protectors (use Evade action)

Serissu - Stealth Device

Tansarii Point Veteran - Draw Their Fire, Hull Upgrade

You end up with two heavy laser cannons which should be nigh impossible to kill without chewing through the two escort scyks first. Laetin, in particular, is good at surviving fire from predator turret gunners and IG-88B cannons, because as long as he doesn't get hit the first time, he actually gets harder to hit the second time - and you have the Draw Their Fire scyk to draw off one crit that 'leaks through' - actually probably better against Rear Admiral Chiraneau and Mangler Cannon Dash, because you're more likely to have a draw-off able critical.
