Hybrid packs, freighters, et al

In X-wing some ships came with a fighter/elite

What do you think of this a a potential for Armada?

Perhaps it could be a way to issue additional fighters without doing a fighter pack.

Another possibility could be to create the Rebel Transport as a small base ship, model about an inch and a half long (2/3 the size of a CR90), 3 hull perhaps, two to a pack, perhaps with one or two stands of fighters along with a hero pilot.

Maybe an Imperial equivalent sized ship(s), this could include Lamda(s)... I REALLY want Lamdas, one of the few icons we're missing.

Probably one model to a squadron base, like the Falcon, Slave, etc

Well when you are talking about hero units some people pointed out and it can be agreed that for ace pilots having them lead a single squadron is the best way to go (now it does prevent squadron mixes like the deathstar trench squadron but that is another story). As for ship heroes they are best treated like upgrades much like crew or commanders which fits as commanders can be reassigned to a different ship.

Now for hybrid packs well Rouges and Villains pack are sort of a hybrid pack as they have both empire and rebel units. However I do think that the core will be the only set with both ships and squadrons.

However I think that it is reasonable to expect more squadron packs with each wave as the trend. So no doubt Wave 3 will include ships like Lambda Shuttles, Z-95 headhunters, and pretty much all the ships in X-wing that are not in armada yet like TIE defenders, E-wings and Phantoms.

Yeah, by hero squadron I was assuming a number of fighters led by a NAME, unless it was potentially larger, maybe VT-49 (or whatever the designation is - it's been a VERY long week), which could represent a.smaller number or even one.... If it REALLY matters, don't want to start another "how many fighters" thread

What about the idea of a couple of small, small base ships, shipped with squadrons?

Undoubtedly FFG will be including the Lambda and the VT-49, although I don't think that they will be released with ships. There are still enough unreleased Imperial and Rebel fighters (Defender/Phantom, Z-95/E-Wing, plus X-Wing Wave 7) that there will most likely be new fighter packs with Armada Wave 3. I doubt that FFG will ever release fighters in the same packs as ships, outside the Core Set.

I really truly wanted and thought that Wave 2 would have Rebel Transports, and I know you Imperials like those lovely shuttles of yours, but the question would be how do you represent them within the context of the game? I've thought a lot on this, and I personally figured that the GR-75 would be on an even smaller base than that of a small ship, giving it two firing arcs. The front would have a single blue die for anti ship and be pretty close in shape and size to the one on the Corvette. Here, I'll write what I think it would be as a card.

It's a basic freighter.

Speed 2 - maybe an upgrade to a stripes version that could chance it to 3 ( - 1 1 yaw)

It should turn like a brick...

Speed 1. -

speed 2. - 1

Maybe even - - at speed 2, to manoeuvre it you need to be actively working the helm and using dials/tokens

Anti Squadron 1 BLUE

Perhaps a title could change that to BLUE BLACK - to reflect one of the existing named Transports (sorry mine is boxed up)

I can't see another Base size anytime soon, maybe a really bug one much later.

Small Base feels right as the X-Wing CR90 and transport have the same size.

Arcs: quite wide sides

Battery. 1 BLUE front and sides, Rear, nothing?

Title could upgrade this.

Shields perhaps 2 everywhere?

I'd maybe go SQUADRON 2 or even 3 (support variant)

ENGINEERING 2

Brace|Brace|Redirect

Not sure what upgrade slots...

Officer, both types of team and maybe the defences one.

Titles being the main way to modify it.

It shouldn't be as flexible as a warship.

It should reflect that it's a "spacetruck"

Perhaps also some similar effect to Gallant Haven

I really want transports and freighters. But espaccally freighters should be objectives only, not pump up to be useful for a military fleet in a battle.

In the context that it's a lumbering freighter equipped for fleet support, yes.

Compare with the x-ring version.

It flies like a brick, doesn't really shoot, however what it does do is support via electronics, "slicing", etc.

Higher squadron value attempts to reflect some of the abilities in the x-wing incarnation.

I meant you no personal offence,but your version makes a full on warship!
