300pnt Rebel Build ran last night

By AndrewTheDOP, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Ran this build at our local Armada night at Game Knight Games.

No Objectives free for all vs a 300 pnt Imperial build (1 Victory II, 1 Gladiator can't remember which type, Rhymer and 3 other TIE Bombers)

Me:

Assault Frigate II A

-Mon Mothma

Nebulon Escort

-Adar Tallon

-Yavaris Title

CR90B

-Dodonnas Pride title

-leading shots

Wedge, Dutch, Keyan, Xwing Sq.

Ran the fighters around Yavaris, Dodonnas pride far to the edge, and the Assault Frigate next to the Nebulon. eventually ended up with the Nebulon ramming the Gladiator, presenting a great medium range shot from the Assault Frigate. Squadron command used the fighters to open up the shields on the front, and some good rolls from the two ships end the Gladiator quickly.

I really like the CR90 build, as its cheap, but great for dealing crits, and then avoiding incoming fire at range. it dealt a good amount of crits before going down.

Some more running around got the Victory down to no shields at all, and 6 hits, and only a redirect token left. Keyan got the last shot with a hit/crit and a blank, rerolled the blank with another hit/crit for the game end.

I like the build on the CR-90B too. Most builds I've seen using the CR-90A and try to keep it long range. But the ion cannon upgrades definitely keep it interesting. But getting (and staying) at that magic medium range is tricky.

Wouldn't Adar be better on a different ship, say the AF? You can't get the most out of your squadrons with only Yavaris issuing squadron commands. Alternatively replace him with Raymus, so Yavaris can consistently issue commands to 3 squadrons, making the most of its title.

Definitely. If you want to use Adar, never put him on the Yavaris. Put him on another ship to support the Yavaris. Quoted from Ficklegreendice:

"basically, putting Adar on the non-Yavaris ship lets you activate and move +attack with the squadron in question. Then after the squadron has been moved you can activate him once more with yavaris, generating 2 attacks."
