Book recommendation:

I liked Seveneves, which was a little disappointing, because I usually adore Stephenson. I thought the first two sections were really good, but the third was a little unconvincing. I felt like he didn't really appreciate the kinds of changes that can happen in 5000 years.

The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. Urban Fantasy. Well written with a very exspanded universe and great humor.

Locke and Key by Joe Hill (Graphic Novel) An old house has magical keys that can be used to unlock all sorts of weird doors. Very dark and well written.

Dresden Files are fantastic. Also see Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne. The IDC is better than his Star Wars book, I promise.

L&K is good, very Lovecraftian, it will be a love it or hate it kind of thing for most.

I allso read the IDC but like Dresden better.

Finished Seveneves. If you want epic, hard science fiction that will give you an intuitive grasp of orbital mechanics this is it. Also if you want a main character who is clearly Neil DeGrasse Tyson.

I thought the third section tried to have a full story, but was more just a slow reveal of what actually happened. A long epilogue explaining everything would have left me in the same place.

Yeah, he really wanted to talk about this new society, but didn't really have space in the book and didn't want or wasn't able to do a big multi-piece work like the Baroque Cycle.

I kind of wish he'd successfully pitched it as a video game rather than writing it, the third section is a really neat setting.

I want to read the fourth section. ~2,000 years after the third ends.

Anyone read The Fear Saga? Been waiting on books 2&3 to hit audible since July....

I started the Ice and Fire books on audible. crazy long books they are. Close to finishing Game of Thrones right now. Very well written and read. Didn't think I'd enjoy it as much after having seen the show.

You should try Wheel of Time. I called it quits around book 8, after reading 7 books back to back, and in book 7 ur 8 they bring back minor characters from book one !... And I imediatly got the hint as to wich character it was! . Ugh to many characters in teh end...
