Scum is half the reason I'm giving X-Wing a break, and I don't think I'm alone with this. Frankly there are more Imperial and Rebel aligned ships I would rather see depicted than anything from the Zann Consortium. As soon as scum enters the picture, now FFG is diverting open expansion slots to those ships instead of giving us more Imperial and rebel craft. If it's like X-Wing, there goes Half the wave to ships some of us don't care about, and can't use for our established factions.
Then we end up with something like the TIE Punisher, an undesirable dud that is the only Imperial offering for that wave, and now there's a half a year wait until another ship is offered. What if the following wave is a dud too?
Only the scum fans are going to be happy when Scum ships are released, but I'm not a scum fan. We don't need a third faction this early, if ever, for the game in my opinion. I can believe in bounty hunter ships but not bounty hunter fleets.
And for me its the opposite. I was bored with X-Wing, and Scum helped to reinvigorate it, not only for me but for my local community, which came back stronger than ever thanks to the diversity scum offered. They really are a fresh of breath air and are not limited by preexesting conditions like Howlrunner and Wedge (or is it Biggs?). Far less mirror matches also.
The Punisher is there because they wanted a Tie that was also a bomber, but not a Tie Bomber. Of course the Punisher and K-Wing should also show that Scum was a good idea as the Rebels and Empire have already hit the bottom of the barrel. There will likely be one more wave in the same vein of 2S / 1E / 1R, and then Scum will have the same number of ships. Afterwards future waves will likely be 1/1/1.
And if you ask me, every Rebel ship is a wasted slot for an Empire of Scum ship we could have got
.
Armada will probably see a 3rd faction eventually. And releases will likely also slow as well. But both of these will keep the game healthier long term.
