Maneuver after taking an action?

By Lobosolo1, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I have gone over the RAW again and again and I have read a ton of posts trying to clarify this. Hoping that someone can point me in the right direction. Is it possible to take a maneuver AFTER using your action? I know you can in d20, but the way I read the EOTE rules, you cannot. Everything follows the incidental, maneuvers and then action sequence. This impacts things like ensnare, distance on shots, etc. Can anyone point me to a page number or a FFG SEZ post that clarifies whether taking your action ends the turn? I have been ruling that it ends the turn. No moving after removing ensnare. No stepping out of cover, shooting and then straining back in, etc.

I appreciate the help! I know that it is a narrative system and you can play how you want, but I would like to know the FFG intent.

Thanks,

Lobosolo

You can do it any order you like. Maneuver, Action, then spend 2 Strain or 2 Advantage and Maneuver again.

Can you show me in the rulebook where it says that you can? I know that everyone assumes that you can. However I can't find anywhere where it says that you can break from that format.

It doesn't say it you can take them in any order, which is meant to be taken as it can be done in any order. Essentially, because there's no specified order, you're free to do it in any order.

But if you need an actual ruling, you can check the Beginner Games (pg. 11 in EotE's and AoR's Adventure Books) to find the following text:

On each character's turn, that character can perform a single action and a single maneuver (in any order).

There isn't one, just like there isn't one that says you have to do it in a fixed order.

Excellent! That is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much for your help guys.

I do believe that using Force powers does state that your turn ends after determining the effect of the check.

It just says the action that's used to activate a Force Power is completed after the power is resolved (pg. 278 for EotE):

Once the Force power has been resolved, this concludes the character's action. A Force power is always "successfully" activated, even if the check does not generate any Force points to spend on the power.

The above RAW is to make sure that everyone understands that successful or not you still spend the Action.
