What's all the love for the clawcraft? Talk about ugly! And how far in the future is it from the OT? Surely farther than the e-wing, maybe even the K!
call me crazy, but i dont want more new ships

Nope, it existed earlier than the E-wing, and it is a work of art.
Clawcraft existed as early as Thrawn (just 5 years after Endor), K-wings existed as early as 19 ABY (15 years after Endor).

EDIT: Actually, I'm not sure. The wookiepedia page leads me to believe different things about when the empire or fragments of the empire actually started using them.

19 ABY is when House Phalanx starting using it, which is in fact a good bit later than the k-wing.
So, gunboat / missile boat would be much more likely. I don't actually want the missile boat but sure is fun annoying people. Gunboat is a must-have.
OMG did you even read the article, it was designed when Thrawn began sharing tech with the Chiss Ascendancy, that's ESB-ROTJ era!
Nope. Gunboat missile boat is a bad idea. If u want shields, get an x wing. If u want ridiculous ordinance and slam capabilities then house rules.
Too late, K-wing is almost here. Which makes it even more odd that the Missile Boat didn't drop instead of the Punisher-dictor. Both high-count ordanance craft with slam should have been released at the same time.
And seeing what they did with the Defender, it's not like the Missile Boat would be crazy overpowered.
1 attack
3 agility
3 hull
2 shields
Focus, TL, evade, SLAM (maybe BR instead of evade)
Missile x4, system (maybe an odd torp slot for EM, maybe a bomb too)
Dial similar to the Defender, which a lot of folks absolutely hate anyway. How would this be OP?
Palpatine began sharing technology with the Chiss Ascendancy, an action initiated by the Chiss Imperial Thrawn. Models of Clawcraft began incorporating TIE design cues as part of the joint venture.
From a design perspective, there is only so much design space left in the rebel and imperial line ups.
The rebels especially are fairly complete as a line up as they have solid ships in all of the different point classes.
The imperials are close, tho the could use 1 more good ship at 15-16 pts (that doesn't require upgrades to compete and 1 ship at around the 24 point mark (or a 17 pt ship with a cannon slot
)
The scum lineup still needs work.

The Clawcraft must have been very important, seeing that it had such an impact on the Galactic Civil War. Oh wait...
Hmm must have been after I stopped reading the books. I still can't forgive Kevin J Anderson or R A Salvatore.OMG did you even read the article, it was designed when Thrawn began sharing tech with the Chiss Ascendancy, that's ESB-ROTJ era!19 ABY is when House Phalanx starting using it, which is in fact a good bit later than the k-wing.So, gunboat / missile boat would be much more likely. The StarViper had SUCH an impact on the war, the YV-666 had SUCH an impact on the war, the Scyk had SUCH an impact on the war, the Phantom had SUCH an impact on war
do you want me to keep going?
FYI it's a Scum ship

I did edit my original post before I saw your response. I thought we were talking about the clawcraft as an imperial ship and I was having trouble understanding when the empire started using it, not remembering a lot of different org names in there. If we're just talking Chiss using it as a S&V ship, that makes way more sense to me.
His argument about it not being a big player in the GCW is nonsense anyway, as you pointed out.
At least Black Sun and the Hutts gave the main heroes lots of trouble. What did the Chiss do again? I mean other than give us the awesome Thrawn, who was imperial and not related to scum in the least. The Clawcraft didn't even appear in the rest of the galaxy for over 20 years after it was first built! A little late to the party!
Well I guess it is somewhat of an improvement over the Interceptor, it then I thought the Interceptors were uneccesary back in 83 when Everyone first saw them. Who ever heard of TIEs with guns on their wings?! And how was it even faster and better armed than regular Fighters when they used the same cockpit module? Whatever, it looks cool!

Because of the cracks, obviously.
What with the SLAM on the K-wing, I also wonder why we get the Punisher instead of the Missile Boat (not a big fan of that boat anyway). I really believe that FFG will stick with TIEs for the Empire, so I don't think we'll see the Missile Boat and, much as I regret it, no Asault Gunboat.

Yea I was replying to the absurdity of his complaint.

Chiss actually caused a lot of problems.
Also you are making assumptions about it characteristics. It is actually as slow as a Y-wing, but it has maneuvering jets all over it that allow it to make tight turns. It's more like the Chiss Defender.
EDIT: you may be referring to the Squint, at which point, the above text is pointless
Edited by YwingAceLook at the game of chess, there is only so many different units, but is still fantastic to play and has been enjoyed for many years. They don't need 3 dozen different choices. Just good solid mechanics.
The key to chess is that both sides have identical and unchanging starting sides. That's not an option for a game like X Wing (can you imagine it? "Hello players, from now on you are only allowed to use BBBBZ lists with no upgrades. Happy gaming" Ugh...) so the designers have to be very careful to balance all pieces against each other.
However, it needs to be said that after a certain point, more ships does not make for a better game.
You're crazy but I agree. I'm pretty happy with the ships we have and look forward to wave 7. Ive said for a while now that the only thing I really have left that i want is a clawcraft. Wave 6 and 7 didn't really change that. I play with the aggressor occasionally but 85% of my scum play has been with ships from earlier waves

With the addition of the K-wing and Interdictor, all I really need is the Clawcraft as well
:D
I too would love to see more options in pilots and titles for existing craft. This doesn't mean they have to totally stop offering new ships though.
Yeah your crazy.
If you don't want new ships then don't buy em
Me, I want more GIVE ME MORRR
I agree that I'd prefer they not release any more obscure EU ships (which aren't canon anymore...for now). I rather they start using the plethora of canon ships from the prequels, clone wars, and rebels, and then eventually the spin offs and possibly the sequels as well.
Aces packs are fine, but make too many and you have lots of extra ships just sitting around. All you're using is the cards, and deciding which model to fly.

Only if you're stuck in the 100 point six rock deathmatch rut. I've got 5 X Wings already and would happily buy more because I like playing X Wing in other ways.

I just bought my 13th X Wing, because I'm preparing for the next 300 point game I play where I can field 14 of them together.....
I might have a problem....![]()
TBH i think if they stopped making new ships i wouldnt be overly bothered.
I'd rather see some 'space scenery', an atmospheric/ground combat expansion or repaint aces before another incredibly obscure EU machine.
At least for a while anyway.
What would shake up the game more than 'new ship with new gadget' is FFG supporting tournaments or competitions that had the same presige as 100/6 death matches but instead were scenario and narrative driven.
You'd see a lot more diverse lists if you knew that your list had to accomplish one of six missions each round and that mission was chosen at random.
I won't be satisfied till we have the following:
Tie avenger
Starwing gunboat
Missileboat
T wing
R-41 staircases
jv7 shuttle
Only then can I recreate every fight from tie fighter.
