What if all the tweaks for the Empire and Rebels comes in the Scum Ships. Their very own New Article states:

Will we need to buy S&V to boost Empire and Rebel ships?

Actually I'm hoping that FFG has a scaled end for the game planed rather than produce until it's no fun. So many ships; switch to cards; switch to missions; etc...

Otherwise how much will you spend before you get frustrated with ships you've never heard of and fixes you don't want to purchase.

See, there is so much potential to expand the game based on the ships they have right now. More e wing and y wing pilots please, titles too. Tie bomber could definitely use some love. ... Scum aces. ...New paint jobs ....oh, the possibilities!

I would also take a mission pack!

Seriously though, with Wave 7 bringing my beloved K-wing and Interdictor into the game, all I need is the Clawcraft to be complete :D :D

As an aside to the person mentioning title cards face down, we have an interesting way of playing some of our casual games.

Build squads as usual but everything is face down, even the pilot card and marker for the figurine. Once you move, use a pilot ability, or a modification you flip that card face up.

Makes it interesting not really knowing what tricks your opponent has up his sleeve. Is he looking to close the gap to fire some cluster missiles or keep his distance for tactician?

Only problem we have is when you announce your lowest PS for activation phase, you can guess the pilot but oh well :)

Just popping in to voice my agreement with the OP.

RPG support, Single and Multiplayer Campaigns, Squadron Themes and an eventual X-Wing 2.0 replacing or rather upgrading the existing non-plastic components of the game are things I could see once we run out of ships.

But I too feel that except 1-2 additional Scum ships, we are full up.

I'm going to also add my ditto to the OP. If were getting the TIE Punisher and the K-Wing as the best new expansions that FFG can come up with for Empire and Rebels, then it might be an idea to expand our options with the existing ships, and make Epic something awesome, rather than a dust-collector.

I agree with OP. Digging up obscure ships from the EU does no one any good. I'd like to see a couple more Aces packs for existing ships (to include more titles and modifications for existing ships) and then that's it. No more releases needed.

Until the new trilogy is out, at least ;)

I don't mind buying repaints (or maybe re-builds--an armored/clone-war version of the Y-Wing for example, or a TIE/Experimental Fighter with the side-mounted cannons). But what I'd really like to see are pilot packs--there are too many ships now that need more pilots. The Y-Wing (both scum and rebel), the TIE Bomber, the TIE Defender, the TIE Phantom, the E-Wing, the Z-95 (scum and rebel), the YT-1300, the Lambda. Heck, I'd even like to see a IG-72 pilot for the Aggressor, if they want to stick to legends. All of the ships have capacity for more named pilots, and those would be great ways to see TIE Bombers and non-Corran Horn E-Wings on the table again. There are just so many possibilities.

I love the IG-72 idea!

Some other droids flying would be 3PO and R2 in the falcon, as they did in Shadows of the Empire. Silly, and I'm sure they would be a rather low PS like 3 or 4.

Mara Jade in Z-95 comes immediately to mind (Rebel I guess, although scum works too.)

I know there's plenty of pilots for the x-wing, but I would still like to see more, like Rookie One or Zev from Hoth or John D from Yavin. Or better yet Corran in an X with a different ability. If he is effecient and cheap enough we might see X-Horn flanked by E-escorts!

The thing with wave 7 is that they didn't have to scrape the bottom of the barrel. We could have had the assault gunboat and TIE Avenger.

This may sound weird, but I don't really want more different ships..... Well, not on the whole anyways. I think Scum could use a couple more, to round them out, and some epic ships, but generally I don't really think ffg need to go digging through vague EU materials for additional ships. Things are fairly balanced now, and the three factions have a very different feel from each other.

BUT

I want more options for the ships we have already. More little tweaks and fiddling possibilities. If each ship had 3 different title cards to choose from, the game would be way more varied. Also, more modifications. ....

Someone mentioned a title for a y wing that gave a crew slot. .... That'd be great! U can have a crew, or u could take btl a4 and just shoot ahead. Or a third option that gives an ept or something. Now that would be great variety.

Three different tie fighter titles anyone? Tie bombers? The possibilities would be awesome!

<<The game is “X-Wing” and each “Wave" is getting away from the main theme, (in my humble opinion.) Fantasy Flight should add more variants of the existing ships. This happens for real in every Air force. Take example of the B-52, there are 12 different variants of this aircraft alone, each one modified and upgrade with new technology.
The dial for these ships would not change, but there should be slight differences in the technology for each variant. This could give all players a new twist and still keep the flavor of X-Wing. (As well as letting the player, keep playing their favorite ships!)
Here are some examples of Tie Bomber Variants.
Variant A removes two torpedo slots and replaces them with second bomb slot and a crew slot. ( I would keep the missile slot just because of the variety of the ordinance.)
Variant B removes two torpedo slots and replaces one with a cannon slot, and the other with a tail gunner, (In effect, having the same firing arcs as a Fire Spray, Forward and Aft)
Variant C become and EW (Electronic Warfare) Version. Remove two torpedo slots and the bomb slot. Add two System upgrade slot and a crew slot. (With the ability to pass Target Locks! Because that is what EW Vessels do!)
Every ship in the game could get several variants.>>

Hell, even a Chrome Tie-fighter might make a good VII release thing.

You're not crazy, some people just approach the game differently than others. I got into this game because it had ships I liked, not because it's balanced. Sure, the game would probably suck if it wasn't, but that's not why I'm there. As long as there are ships I like that aren't in the game, I want them, regardless of balance.

Totally agree with OP. Some of the stuff is getting silly, no matter who actually reads enough EU stuff to have a soft spot for the K-Wing or Punisher. I think after Wave 7 they should put a hold on things until we meet some new ships in Ep 7 or Rogue 1. Maybe have a small wave in between, introducing 1 epic Scum ship and 1 large Rebel ship, if another appropriately sized one exists in that era (Scum and Imps will both have 3 large ships after W7; Rebs only have 2 atm). Otherwise, I think there's plenty of balance, diversity, and ships to mess around with for the time being.

That's right. Their release model is focused around ships--if they want to include a new card a ship has to come with it.

I would love to see more bounty hunter ships like the Hounds Tooth. Scum to me has always been bounty hunters. And SOTE has been around for two decades so those ships should feel more like Star Wars than anything in the prequels.

I'd say add one more ship to scum (given that when wave 7 comes out, they'll still be one short) but that can come with a new epic ship. Even the sides, but stop there. Bottom of the barrel will soon be reached.

That said, repaints, more epic stuff, aces and the like are welcome ideas.
