Mechanic or Bountyhunter Books

By Ahrimon, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Haven't been around for a while. Has anyone heard or seen anything about the mechanic and/or bounty hunter books?

I recommend subscribing to the News feed using your favorite RSS client. FFG has a really good handle on releasing information about their games...basically, when it's announced, it's announced, and you'll be able to find info about it very easily. Otherwise, they keep a very tight lid on scuttlebutt. At least as far as this game line is concerned!

Nope.

Oh, I know what's next. But I'm not telling.

May all your fish have high mercury content...

Appreciate it. I'm not a big RSS person, but I'll keep my eyes on the forums.

I have the "Page Monitor" extension installed for Chrome, and the FFG News page is currently the only thing I'm following :)

That's a fun and annoying place to be in, Desslock. My tongue is still recovering (and still getting bit) by the projects I was on. Hope you're enjoying it!

Well if the penguin is running his mouth, or bill, or beak, or whatever the f*ck penguins talk out, hopefully we are due for some info at least before Gencon....

Apparently either "bill" or "beak" is appropriate, and the terms are used interchangeably.

So, would you call that honking?

i would call it braying, it s like a donkey somehow

My money is on the Technician followed by the Bounty Hunter sourcebook. Because those two careers encompass two thirds of my group it figures they'd be last

I've commented in other threads that may worry is that FFG has so much good stuff in the pipeline between EotE, AoR, and F&D that their staff may be spread thin. I hope there's an allotment assigned just to EotE to ensure we see the two remaining sourcebooks and another adventure book this year. The sooner the better on those sourcebooks, my players are hungry and ready to advance into their chosen fields (and I'm ready to devour all that new content). Plus rules for Technicians building and enhancing stuff like droids (expanded upon what's already in the CRB I mean) is worth its weight in credits.

I'm a little on the greedy side for EotE material since that's the game we're currently on (15 out of 45 outlined episodes completed so far). After EotE we'll move onto AoR then F&D (although I let my players take careers from any of the games that are published they've opted to stick with EotE careers thus far).

It's likely that the remaining career books for EotE are already in the can.

They'll both be great capstones on the EoE portion of the system. Really looking forward to both.

OK, just for fun, does anyone want to hazard a guess at when the fifth and sixth career sourcebooks will be released this year? I haven't followed the trends from the previous releases so it's tough to ballpark; however, I'll guess third quarter for Technician and fourth (holiday) quarter for Bounty Hunter. Where an adventure book (I'm still optimistically expecting one) fits in is anyone's guess but I'll put my money on late third quarter for that.

At that point FFG may cease producing new material for EotE and shift those gears towards whatever is born of The Force Awakens. I really don't want that to happen, I'd like to see a new setting book and adventure book for EotE in 2016. However, if I temper my wishes with realistic expectations then I concede that EotE may not see new releases after this year. I hope to be wrong! Feel free to disagree.

We aren't getting an EoE adventure book, they've already announced the F&D one.

It's possible we will get one EoE splatbook by the end of the year, but given they've begun staggering them with AoE and now the F&D CRB being released, I would not expect both EoE career books to come this year.

Third Quarter is already clogged with FaD's Core, GM Kit, first adventure book, and the AoR Alliance worlds sourcebook. This is assuming the FaD adventure and AoR regions book don't get bumped into 4th quarter.

I'd say we'd get one in fourth quarter, probably Bounty Hunter because it's going to be less bogged with new rules, and is more of just about neat gear. And then Technician will be late first, maybe early second, quarter 2016, because it's got things like Scavenging and Invention rules to deal with. And we'll probably get our first FaD career, and a couple AoR careers in-between, maybe even an AoR adventure.

I don't know. I understand your logic behind why Bounty Hunter might be first but I still think it will be last since the usually alternate action focused careers with less action focused ones.

Explorer to Hired Gun to Colonist to Smuggler for EOE

Ace Pilot to Diplomat for AOR

It's likely that the remaining career books for EotE are already in the can.

What can? Are you doubting their release? I am pretty sure they will both be out for the year is through.

Movie making phrase for all done. It means film is shot and in the film can.

I still subscribe to the initial FFG tagline that these were independent games that shared the same rule set. With that said, I'd hoped to get more EotE this year independent of what's going on with AoR and F&D. However, the points you make are valid that if they are looking at the overall Star Wars RPG situation they might find the field too thick to get both EotE career books out this year. Ultimately my wish will be to see them both in 2015.

Regarding the lack of an adventure book, that's disappointing if that was announced. Shame but understandable given how much Star Wars they're producing this year.

Ah, I thought garbage can! Language barrier I guess.

Some phrases just don't translate well anyway. Mea Culpa.
