AFII + 3xCorvette, C&C Welcome

By mxlm, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I'm kicking around the idea of running a guppy with a minimal corvette swarm, and this is what I'm coming up with:

I'm thinking of dropping Pride to add Raymus to the OLP corvette...but I'm also thinking it's not that hard to arrange double arc shots with corvettes, so maybe crit fishing with 3xblue and 2xblue in one turn wouldn't be so bad.

Idea is to never drop below speed three and avoid the enemy's preferred arcs altogether. A-Wings are just there to slow down any fighter force that is both intimidating and capable of keeping up with the fleet.

I really like this concept but for I would tweak it like this. I like the CR90a Corellian Corvette - Jaina's Light so I can throw red dice and use the AF as cover and I would much rather have Paragon then Enhanced armament when you position yourself correctly. I see less of a need for the Leia/Tantive Combo with mostly Corvettes in your fleet.

1 • Assault Frigate Mark II B - Mon Mothma - XI7 Turbolasers - Paragon (113)
2 • CR90a Corellian Corvette - Jaina's Light (46)
3 • CR90 Corellian Corvette B - Overload Pulse (47)
4 • CR90 Corellian Corvette B - Dodonna's Pride (45)

I've been kicking around the same idea, and here is the list that I am testing out:

AF MkIIB @72 + Mon Mothma @30 + Enhanced Armament @10 + Electronic Countermeasures @7
CR90B Corvette @39 + Leia Organa @3 + Jaina's Light @2
CR90A Corvette @44
CR90A Corvette @44
Tycho Celchu @16
A-Wing @11
A-Wing @11

A-Wing @11

Total: 300
Objectives: Opening Salvo, Fire Lanes, Superior Positions

I'm interested to hear how this works out for others. Maybe we can keep comparing notes until someone figures it out.

I love the AF and 3 corvettes it works really well. I run over lod pulse with janas light so that ship can't get blown away to fast before it does its job. With janas light I can hide behind something and strip the defense tokens.

I have been using a similar list to these as well – I dropped most of the upgrades to swap a CR90 for a Salvation Neb and a fifth A-wing. Really been enjoying it, with such fast ships and a solid number of activations it has been laughably easy to get the CR90’s firing two arcs at a single target.

If Im not running paragon or an AF2a I do like having gunnery teams on the AF though. Really gets those broadsides blazing, and starts wearing down a ship other than the primary target ready for it to be mobbed a turn or two later.

Finally got this on the table for two matches tonight (I added ECM to the AF and brought the list up to 300). It's definitely a lot of fun running a mini corvette swarm, but it also needs tweaking. I didn't get any real use out of the Tantive, Pride, or OLP, and I suspect I'd get good mileage out of dropping those three and buying another squadron or another upgrade or two for the AF.

Well I just need to get me a third Corvette for father's day lol. So does having four squadrons hurt gameplay or are they just there to tie up other squadrons?

They're speed bumps, nothing more.

I also was planning an AFmk2 and 3 corvette build but no fighters.

It goes like this

Assault Frigate Mk2 A

Mon Mothma

Intel Officer

Paragon

ECMs

X17s

Corvette A

Jaina's Light

Enhanced Armaments

Corvette A

Enhanced Armaments

Corvette B

Dodonna's Pride

Advanced Projectors

Advanced Gunnery

Intel Sweep

Fleet Ambush

I think I may try this out:

AFII A - 81 points

With: Mon Mothma - 30

Intel Officer - 7

Electronic Countermeasures - 7

X17 Turnolasers - 6

Paragon - 5

Corellian Corvette A - 44 points

With: Enhanced Armament - 10

Jaina's Light - 2

Corellian Corvette A - 44 points

With: Leia -3

Tantive IV - 3

Corellian Corvette B - 44 points

With: Electronic Countermeasures - 7

Dodonna's Pride - 6

Total : 294 points

List is fairly self explanatory, I like ECM on the CR90 B due to it enabling me to use my Evades at Medium range(which net in no damage with Mon Mothma), I really feel the ship doesn't have enough shields to make Advanced Projectors worth it.

I'd leave tantive at home if you don't have Raymus enabling it

Just tried this out:

[ REBEL FLEET (297 points)
1 • Assault Frigate Mark II A - Mon Mothma - Electronic Countermeasures - XI7 Turbolasers (124)
2 • CR90a Corellian Corvette - Jaina's Light (46)
3 • CR90 Corellian Corvette B (39)
4 • CR90 Corellian Corvette B (39)
5 • Tycho Celchu A-wing Squadron (16)
6 • A-wing Squadron (11)
7 • A-wing Squadron (11)
8 • A-wing Squadron (11)
9 • Objectives - Opening Salvo - Fire Lanes - Dangerous Territory (0)

Went against Screed VSDI, VSDII (warlord) and GSD Dominator (non-turbo), no fighters. Opponnet deferred First player and I chose opening salvo. Was able to flank Warlord, and Leave Screed out of combat. The GSD was in pursuit of my AF2. Mon Mothma's ability pretty much negated opposing players opening salvo dice. I swear it negated up to 16 damage using the enhanced evades. Warlord was destroyed when all my my ships gained up on it, and i lost 2 corvettes.

Second game was against AF2 with EA, ECM, Antillies, Mothma, Neb B, Neb B (support) with liea, Dutch, and 3 X-wings. Intel Sweep was the objective (again, opponent deferred player 1, making me choose objective, and we all met in the middle where the "5th" objective was. I screwed up my AF2, and didn't start it at speed 3, and instead had use my Nav COmmand to accelerat instead of getting a token, so I could "cross the T" on the opposing AF2. After Round 4 it was out of the fight taking some long range potshots with limited effectiveness on the Neb-B. After i crossed the T, the opponents AF2 was able to activate two broadsides (once on my AF, and another on a corvette). we had to call it at round 4 b/c the LGS was closing. But I THINK if Jaina's light (my objective ship) survived 2 shots from the Neb-Bs It might have been able to get the 5th token.

Antillies saved my opponents bacon by Focusing on repairs keeping the AF2 around. and the A-wings pretty much negated the use opposing fighters, even when the X-wings got the jump on the A-wings. Next time I would focus more on the Neb-Bs

I found a few times where my Corvette Bs were out ranged. But having one command dial meant they could use concentrated fire every time they were in range. I learned quick to set up an ambush and wait for less maneuverable ships to come into their range after avoiding any long range fire with.

you need to be very aggressive , and concentrate on one ship with all four of yours and isolate some of the slower ships in opponents fleet.

I doubt I will ever get a 10-0 score with this, not even 9-1. But 6-4, and 7-3 are more then possible.
