Corran help

By CHUCKTASTIC, in X-Wing

My local Meta is Corran-filled. Played in a tourney yesterday with 12 people, and 7 had Corran plus a friend list. Everytime I go out its Corran, Corran, Corran. Aways the same build- Engine, R2-D2, VI, FCS.

Need help to counter Corran. He's my nemisis.

Throw in an ion delta defender to whatever. He hates stress, so a flechette one is also viable. Nice to see a non-fat meta tho!

I won't speak for the OP, but most of the time I see Corran, he has Falcon or Outrider in tow.

I 100% agree on the advice regarding the cannons though. Make sure to focus fire though. R2-D2 will heal the damage from the Ion cannon each turn. You need to slow him down and then unload everything you got.

Run chirpy with gunner and Vader along with anything else that hits really really hard. Kill him either the first or second round of shooting every time.

If you dont want to run a fat list - try StressWes (VI, R3-A2) plus any other high offense ships (Bs, Xs or Warthogs). PS 10 Wes strips tokens and stresses Corran. Everything else finises him off, he's pretty squishy with only 5 HP. Alternately VI Wes and Hobbie with R3-A2 and stresspedoes is a good 2 ship combo.

Chuck, Corran hates Ions and Rebel Control. At least we don't have PTL Corran's running around everywhere, they are much harder to hit.

VI Corran also wants to face ships 1v1. If you can get multiple guns on him, he gets very sad.

It just seems like if the Corran player has a little bit of better luck, or I have a little worse, it's over. And I hate rebel control more than anything.

For example-

I have RAC on Sunday w/ gunner at range one of Corran (with a target Lock). 1st attack. Blank Blank Blank Focus (for crit)- Evaded 2nd attack- blank blank hit focus TL reroll blank blank. Corran ends up with one damage. Corran shoots back. I take 3 hits. Gets free TL. Shoots again with the double tap, I take 4 hits. He speeds away for three turns.

That's just some bad luck, you can't do too much planning for that. The trick is that if you make an attempt to kill Corran, you have to commit. You don't want to almost kill him, then have him fly away and get all better with R2D2. Ion does a great job to stymie that. He doesn't get away, and the ion maneuver doesn't trigger R2D2. Corran just does really well in the 2-3 ship meta. As long as he doesn't get terrible defensive luck for a few turns in a row, he can take out almost any ship (Fel, Han, Whisper, IG88, etc) all by himself. You almost have to get more than 1 shot on him, or use some sort of control.

When I have run VI Corran, he usually dies when he is facing multiple shots and gets even slightly below average rolls. Even if he doesn't die, he is weakened, and a few opposing ships in good position and chase him down the following turn. It doesn't always happen that way, Corran can be very evasive, especially to 2 attack ships, but he will die to sustained fire.

What did you run with your Chiraneau Chuck? Fel? VI Corran will almost never lose to Fel, almost.

R2D2 will not heal the ion damage. The Ion maneuver is a white move, so R2D2 will not trigger and restore a shield.

Not many people play Corran in my area. It is common for them to save a Fett or decimator or Falcon to the end with the expectation that they can handle Corran because they cost more or something. It goes the other way 90% of the time.

I came here to say that, this is %100 true

Wes Janson, with VI if possible.

Farlander with opportunist, and HLC

Jan Ors with ion turret and nien nunb

Shoot at Corran with Wes

Line up Farlander, at dice for opportunist and Jan Ors.

Fire 6 dice at Corran

:-)

I tried some variations of this, it is great fun and shoots big time ;)

I played against Corran in a store tourney yesterday, using a common RAC/Fel build. Rebel captive slowed him down and made it easier to double team him. He was off the board in 2 turns with out much trouble. I agree with adding a flavor of stress or ion to get him down quickly.

Don't hate on corran hate on all the 3po and isard builds that make him so useful. As for a counter the above posts are right ion so you know where he will be, negating r2-d2 then bring some guns to bear. Even better if he used push the limit as remaining stressed means no evade barrel roll boost etc.

I'm playing a Xizor Z-95 swarm. I'm thinking that giving him a stress while he is stressed is good (flechette torpedo). Also, bumping might work, as well. Anything to deny him actions. Then, hope Xizor hits as I don't see the Z's getting too many hits through.
