Rebel gunline fleet

By ForceM, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So what do you think about this one. Heavily focused around brutally gunning down an enemy ship...

The one thing i am not sure about is teh fighter support... i could have gone for 3 A-Wings or 2 B-Wings instead of my 2 elite squads, but i wonder if that would be better...

I've run a list very similar to this. with only 2 squadrons, you'll find that wedge (with escort ability) followed by dutch go down very fast to swarms.

If I were to go gunline (of sorts) with a minimum on fighters I think I'd try this:

1* Assault Frigate Mark II A - General Dodonna - Paragon (106)
1* Assault Frigate Mark II B (72)
2* CR90 Corellian Corvette B (78)
4* A-wing Squadron (44)

300 on the dot.

I have not tested this yet but I sure will at some point! ^_^

This is another approach to gunline

But i don't know if more ships equals better in this case.

All my ships are offensively better and want to support each other.

The Corvette is there to overload tokens of course so the later shots can punch through easier or provoke the enemy to sacrifice them. Leia adds flexibility to bring in just the action you need for any ship this turn.

Salvation with Raymus is a very credible threat (if you roll somewhat well) and will definitely punch through shields if somewhat lucky.

The AF2 is just a powerhouse and if you get paragon activated you will easily get through teh remaining defenses of a ship. Dodonna assures your damage sticks permanently and cripples the enemy.

I know this is a vulnerable list, but its also set to kill one important enemy ship of any sort in a very short time. And nothing ups your rate of survival as well as just killing the enemy before he can kill you!

I feel that with naked rebel ships like you run them i have difficulties piercing through defensive tokens and cause damage that is not just completely repaired just the turn after, thats why i focus so much on getting rid of them. This is true for Victorys especially, but somewhat also for Gladiators.

The fighters are another story. I am at 35 points for them currently. I would probably run them protecting Salvation from Bombers and Gladiators. But with Leia i could also toss them at an enemy when i feel its opportune to do so. I picked those 2 because they can not only tie enemy fighters/bombers up but have the potential to cause some serious damage to them, especially when helped by the defensive fire of one of my Frigates that i have the intention of running them close to. But i am not sure if i would not be better off with 3 A-Wings or 2 B-Wings. The former would just engage enemy squadrons to buy time, the latter would be a serious threat to ships getting close to my frigates. I am however not sure if Wedge and Dutch with their tokens will not hold out much longer than any standard 3 squadrons! Plus they also are bombers if need be!

Imo paragon is a waste.
