I really like sensor jammer. However, by itself, it can be 'neutralized', particularly by higher PS (able to use their focus on their attacks, especially ships with Push the Limit or ways to get multiple focus).

The best way to get good use out of it is by blocking, adding in stuff that can deal stress, or some way to strip tokens (like Wes).

Here's two ideas:

Etahn w/ predator & SJ = 39

Blackmoon w/ SJ = 33

Outer Rim Smuggler w/ Intel Agent = 28

The ORS is pretty good blocker (blackmoon can use intel agent to inform his BR if you need him to block too)

Etahn w/ wingman & SJ = 38

Blue squad w/ E2 mod & tactician = 25

Blue squad w/ E2 mod & tactician = 25

Bandit = 12

Wingman is there to help the blues be less predictible after their red moves

Yeah...in your current list, an opponent simply needs to perform focus actions and has negated almost 10% of your points. As mentioned previously, it really shines when you have more action denial/token stealing antics. It might be helpful on the occasional K-Turn, but other than that, it needs help.

Another option...maybe consider putting Stress Bot (R3-A2 I think) on E'tahn...he gets stressed after attacking, but has a bunch of green moves to clear it. If he can't, he still has Predator.

I will say, I used it on an IG/Palob combo to great effect and saved my IG about 4 or 5 damage (!). It can be pretty powerful, but only in the right circumstances.

Focusing doesn't "neutralize" Sensor Jammer, it just pays the tax. On a 3-dice attack, there's a ~58% chance that the attacker will roll at least one focus result. SJ basically increases that to 100%. SJ's strength is that it forces high-PS enemies to either pull their punch or drop their defenses, which makes Etahn's ability even better.

As for the list, I think it looks good, except that the Blackmoon E-Wing probably won't earn back its cost. You could trade it out for 3 more Bandits, but since you're waiting on your first two, that's probably not feasible. I might try a Blue Squadron B-Wing and a Prototype A-Wing with Refit instead. That would give you an effective blocker, as well as an extra gun.

Yeah, I'd go with a B-wing instead of the Blackmoon. With the point savings you can add R2-D2 to Ethan to make him really tanky.

Something like:

Ethan

-Predator

-Sensor Jam

-R2-D2

Dagger

-HLC

-FCS

Bandit x 2

That's my favorite SJ list. It almost makes SJ an offensive upgrade by forcing focus spending or leaving that annoying SJ to deal with as the last ship.

Not sure the Ewing is the place to do it (r2d2 seems more reliable)

You could try it on a character bwing that normally suffers from lack of damage mitigation. 8 points gets you jammer and c3po for 2 garanteed action independent damage cancels.

Pair it with title, ion, r3-a2 y to deny focus.

Maybe take flechette nera for more control? Maybe squad leader + ei (reroll instead of c3po) IBS? Ptl farlander? Soontir killing numb?

You're looking at a ship near the 40-50 range, so you can afford a tactician b or maybe even a pair of blocking As?

Hell, into agent fringers are a pretty decent way of ensuring enemies never focus

Also, another good squad for SJ:

Corran + Predator + Sensor Jammer + R2D2

Chewy + Predator + Gunner + MF Title + C3P0

I particularly like Corran built that way for Joust vs Joust fighting. Corran has an exceptional advantage after a K Turn war vs other ships wanting to K Turn. Chewy is there to, well, be Chewy, and provide a reliable, tough to kill gun that'll take shots at the likely focus-less ships.
