Custom fleet

By Nachofante, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

A nicely rusted ship. Good work as always!

Thanks for the link Nachofante! Gonna have to up my weathering game now!

Gonna try some of these techniques as i progress through my scum fleet.

Also that cockpit looks like it came off the decimator, but it more rounded than the decimator? I have a decimator and a slaver. I had been planning to use the decimator cockpit to mod the slaver, but was just curious where your cockpit came from. Was it scratch built?

I have been out of the hobby aspect for about a decade, and am just getting back into it. Starting to acquire more bits, paints, tools etc, but its a process, as im sure you know! Right now my entire scum fleet has been done with two brushes, and less than a dozen colors of paint.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks, MacrossVF1. Rust was the best option for this old yellow cargo ship...

JoeVandal49: the cockpit cames from a Revell Jedi starfighter plastic kit (bigger than X-Wing scale). Sometimes I buy cheap plastic kits only for bits or parts.

The wings are in one of my first ships, the "Rebel Jewel":

Is that modge podge sealing your bases? (some of them seem to have a gloss over them)

How does it hold up?

Absolutely stunning....wow!

Thanks, MtnWook!

JoeVandal49: I use Photoshop or an specific tool to make custom cards and stats for bases, and print it. Them I glue the paper to a resistent piece of paperboard and protect it with Aironfix (the autoadhesive film cover for books): thats the reason of the gloss effect. Hope it helps!

Hope you like it!

Woooow, that is a fantastic conversion on that Z! (the YV is brilliant too)

The top mounted cannon makes it work so well with the down slung wings.

Thanks for your comments, MtnWook!

Both ships have parts from 1/35 WWII weapons sprue (including the Z-95 cannon). This is a cheap source for parts at this scale ;) .

Hope it helps

Well Both your Models look Fantastic Nacho :D

Brilliant custom build and excellent repaint......but I am Intrigued as to what happend to the Tie Phantom to what you took the wings

from for your Z95.

perhaps another great looking custom build ?

Merry Christmas and all the best,

Barry.

Thanks for your comments, Barry!

I don't like the Phantom. The only reason I bought it was becouse it was part of a lot... Anyway the wings looks great... as part of another fighter :D .

Are you reading my mind  ? The Phantom cockpit is perfect to build a custom light freighter. I'm looking for inspiration to do so, becouse I want a different look, but still recogniseable as a SW's universe ship.

Merry Christmas!

Nacho

A bit smaller than other freighters, so maybe suited to the Phantom cockpit module ???

Not seen that one before...another nice design, but a bit difficult to judge the size - the cockpit, turret and escape pods[?] suggest it's quite small, but the text talks about transporting a starfighter

But I'm looking for something... assymetric

Hmmm, difficult to come up with something that doesn't just look like a YT-1300, which would give us this, of course:

So, how about a version of this using the Phantom cockpit module rather than a B-Wing? :

Sorry, jumped the gun a bit there...yeah, like that, kinda like a non-CEC version of the YV-100 with that cockpit module and body/engine arrangement, but with the offset boom - very interesting  ;)

Nice ideas, ianmiddy. Thanks!

I'm still looking for suitable bits for the freighter. I only have two big engines, a Phantom cockpit and... a lot of ideas  .

The more I look at it, the more that 342 appeals...realised that I had seen it before on the Deckplans Alliance website, but at the time I was more interested in the Ghtroc 720 variants like the Cargo Baroness

Looking forward to seeing what you end up with! ;)

Looks like your going to be busy !

Im converting a Jumpmaster at the moment......looks nothing like it once did !

but as a model I can keep it within the realms of the game and use it.

Will you do the same, or a complete scratch build ?

All the best and happy new year Nacho.

Barry.
