Custom fleet

By Nachofante, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

Hi again!

I’ve decided to post all my creations, including repaints, proxies and scrathbuilt ships in a same thread.

Currently I’m “updating” all my ships at 2.0 version in my Blog (painted bases, more detailed cockpit’s highlights and better photos), so I will post here the finished ships too.

I apologise for any mistakes in my English. Hope you like!

I’m going to start with my latest work: a Scum Firespray repaint.

This one was my first ship, a Falcon Revell kit conversion.

The “Mynock”,a YV-545 light freighter:

Well these two ships are certainly a treat! Full of character and nice little touches. I would however be afraid to use the Firespray as anything other than a showpiece. That missile would break every time I touched it. Which is probably the reason why my scratchbuilds are fairly solidly built. :) Anyway great work!

the Cockpit on that firespray is insane

and I love the rodian pinup and conversion on that falcon

Thanks for comments!

Certainly, the missile launcher is the most fragile part of the model. I built it over a wire structure inserted in a drill hole made on the ship's side. I "varnished" it with wood glue to make it more resistant. During the painting process I dropped the ship accidentally for three times :o , without fatal consequences  .

The work on that cockpit wasn't easy. I had to repaint it several times to achieve a realistic effect.

This is the current state of two of my headhunters. The one on the right is a repaint. The other one is a scratchbuilt clone.

very nice

The paint jobs are fantastic, there is no doubt about that. The only issue I have is the engine glow on the Falcon. I think you went a little overboard in that aspect because there is no way the light from the engines would be that far up the top hull plating. To me, that kind of detracts from the overall look. But other than that they are all fantastic paint jobs.

Mind blown. That firespray =D

Thanks for your replies!

GML, thanks for your suggestion. I think the ship looks much better now:

This one is an Aka`jor class mandalorian shuttle.

Scratchbuilt from cardboard, wire, green stuff, "plasticard" (ice cream package plastic) and jewelry pieces.

Yeah the Falcon repaint looks much better now that you've toned back on the OSL for the engines.

That's a very handsome looking shuttle, especially considering, from your description at least, that you've built it using scrap. Of course, a good scratchbuilder can find the potential in just about anything. :)

I use a lot of different materials, and I`m always lookig for suitable things... most recycled, free or very cheap. The base is more expensive than the ship ;) .

This is a link to Alex Stockwell amazing Aka'jor design. I used his detailed images as construction plans.

New Scum and Villainy pilot:

P'enelopeh "Pitstop" and her modified Z-95, the "Compact Pussycat", comes from professional race circuit to join new Scum and Villainy faction. A strange crossover with Wacky Races.

That is brilliant!! Loved it. Though, you need to make a parasol for the Z-95.

X Wing proxies using Micro Machines. I replaced the original cannons with wire and repainted it as veteran pilots, with multiple battle damages.

These are part of a bigger project and I have used it as test miniatures before painting the capital ship in the same colour scheme. I'm actually working in the " Farstar ", a modified CR-90 Corvette with hangar and these X Wings can be fixed into the docking tubes or act separately. The hangar also includes another X Wing, a custom fighter, infantry miniatures and a lighting system.

Waaay looking forward to this!

This is out-of-control great. Awesome concepts and execution.

Very nice work sir

Work In Progress : Modified CR-90, The "Farstar"

This is my latest crazy idea: building an ultradetailed X-Wing scale hangar inside an Epic ship.

In order to achieve a real unique look ship, I have built a detailed hangar that could be seen from the exterior.

It includes a Micro Machines X-Wing, a custom fighter, decoration elements (made from jewelry pieces) and infantry miniatures (6mm scale) painted as rebel pilots.
The "Farstar" has three extendable docking tubes, so I decided to make it functional using wall plugs. Fighter size ships fits in the docking tubes, as if they were docked at the corvette.
I was forced to install a lighting system, because it was too dark inside! This is my first attemp with lighted kits, so I decided to paint the engines with the airbrush this time.

Still working in a few interior details before painting the main hull.
