Collision and maneuver token

By Intys Rule, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Ship A is on speed 2 and there is a ship in front of it. Ship A has a maneuver token. Is it okay for me to measure all options before deciding whether to use the token or not?

What basically happened is that I tried all options so as not to collide, found out I would collide with the other ship no matter what I'd do, so I declared I would spend the maneuver token to increase the speed to 3, and was able to do the move safely.

Is there anything wrong with that scenario?

As long as you don't actually slot the maneuver tool you can measure all you like. So yes, you could measure, spend the token and go to 3, and avoid the collision.
