For fun: suggest the most epic Lore Fail that FFG has pulled off...

By xanderf, in X-Wing

The rebels also had fewer pilots and probably didn't have enough to field that many y-wings with dedicated gunners. He republic, however, had millions and millions of clones.

Did you see the celebration scene at the end of A New Hope? Where were all those extra pilots when the decision was made to stick an untrained farmboy behind the stick of a T-65? By my quick glance at the various camera angles I guess there are about 50 extra pilots in that scene.

Perhaps they weren't all there at the time. Lots could have been out doing missions and stuff but then recalled when DS1 shows up. They probably didn't get back in time to run the trench but did get there soon enough to celebrate. Lazy bastards.

Pilots in the wrong ships and some ships not having full capability.

Corran in an E-Wing not an X-Wing, Marek Steele in an Advanced not an Avenger, or A-Wings not having a reverse arc. Or Y-wings not having a rear gunner, They had them in The Clone Wars but not in the Rebel Alliance?

The clones flew BTL-B y-wings, a very early model that featured a large bubble canopy on the turret to allow for the gunner, and were specially bombers. The y-wings that the rebels flew were mostly BTL-A4 and which were single seat assault fighters that could fill the light bomber role, and the ion turret was usually fixed in the forward position. The other common model flown by the rebels was the S3 which did have a second seat for a gunner/bombardier, but there was no crazy bubble canopy. The rebels also had fewer pilots and probably didn't have enough to field that many y-wings with dedicated gunners. He republic, however, had millions and millions of clones.

It is a crime that the TIE Avenger wasn't made, and a shame that Darth Vader isn't a pilot for the Defender. The worst ommision is the assault gunboat, just sad.

You are correct on the model number and the canopy for the Y-wing, I just would like to see the capability. Also the y-wings are way to slow in this game. In Ep. VI a y-wing chases a "Squint" and one shots him at the battle of Endor.

This bugs me as well. Y wing are too slow, B wings are too fast. From what I remember in lore B wings were dedicated capital ship killers not fighters and Y wings like the above poster said were mid range fighter bombers capable of hanging in a scrum but having ordnance that an X and A wing lack for heavy hitting support. Y wings should be close to X wings in manueverability and B wings should be tanks. I may be completely wrong but I hate when people call Y wings bombers, they are support.

Another one is the relative speeds of the large ships. Due to the game mechanics and their large bases they can achieve faster than A-wing speeds with engine upgrade. If it were closer to lore more of the large ships would have a max speed of 3 (like the Aggressor)

B-wings only having 1 cannon slot... Given they had like 9 guns or something ridiculous.

3 Laser cannons and 3 Ion cannons. And their interpretation is consistent with the rest of this game, because any ship with Ion Cannons gets a single Cannon slot to represent them, regardless of how many Ion Cannons it actually has.
