Edited by GiraffeandZebraOh no not this again haha. The thread on this was like 15 pages long as to why ffg won't purposefully delay something. In fairness to FFG I understand totally why they wanted to wait till the tail end of tournament season to release an epic ship. I know the guys I play with will not touch anything right now that isn't tournament practice. When the smoke clears I think they will be much more receptive to a casual game. Right now though it's pretty much build testing, regional prep and composition calculations. I think they did this on purpose and just realized they announced too early a bit late.
Raider delayed until August?
I'm assuming there was a problem at the printer, not a strategic delay for tournaments or to help boost sales for a different product (although admittedly, I'm more likely to get Armada now since I wanted to order the Raider and Armada together from MM).
Edited by PygonI didn't wade through that thread. Though I presume there is no good business reason to delay a product for "tournament reasons" (just FAQ it out like they did last year). But now there is good business reason to just hold it until Gen Con at this point. They'll be able to sell every unit they bring direct to consumer at full retail if it hasn't hit FLGS or online stores yet.Oh no not this again haha. Yeah, pretty much the gist of it haha. Like you said it makes no since to hold it back just because it's tournament season. They are a company and companies exist to make money, holding back a product and keeping it stored at the warehouse taking up valuable space and not earning you any money in return just sitting there is bad business. You are right tho about holding some aside for gencon. I would not bank on it, but it is a possibility.
I must admit I have my own selfish reasons for hoping the Raider does come out in August. My birthday's in August, and I'm not made of money (partly due to being drained of it by FFG constantly...that came out wrong).
I also bittersweetly hope for the delay. I want it badly, but can't afford it.
A Vader-free regionals and championship is actually attractive.
It lets us have an actual tournament post-Whisper, pre-Vader, with Scum wildcards. Best meta we'll have for a while, unless Wave 7 surprises us.
(Not that I am sad that Vader is going to be back in fashion, but man, he's going to be back... and he won't be leaving any time soon.)
Yeah but that was because of the dockworker strike. Raider has been at the printer for 6 months.... is there a Toner-Manufacturing strike that we aren't aware of?Follows the pattern
This came out when?
Sorry, pet peveve:
It wasn't a strike, they were locked out. The dock owners were not letting the dock workers work. The fact that the dock owners could do that was one of the reasons the contract negotiations got heated. The fact that we called it a "strike" is why the dock owners thought they could get away with it.
Yeah but that was just wave 6. Take a look at Wave 5? When was it supposed to be released? When was it actually released (and Gencon pre-release sales don't count). Okay what about Rebel Aces, it was supposed to be released shortly after Gencon but actually took several weeks.
I'm just saying FFG has never made a release date with their Star Wars products for the past year. Here we are with the announcement that the commercial release sale of the raider will be delayed and yet people are surprised because?
Seriously, it would have been a sure bet that something like this would have happen.

as long as there's no decimator attached to his ass ala human centipede...
ah, who are we kidding, the Decimator's the only freaking constant ![]()
Just needs a little MoV fixin', there.
They're a lot less attractive when you don't keep 65 points on the table until the enemy has rolled 16+ hits on a large-based arc dodger. ![]()
Vader, meanwhile, is going to outdo Soontir Fel for value-for-points. I foresee a lot of Soontir/Vader/what-do-I-do-with-my-last-thirty-points lists in the future...

that's already the list I'm working for regionals, its just the empire doesn't have a good 30 points in it after those two
Shuttle with Palpatine is 29 points... I don't know whether it's a good investment, but I'm sure as heck going to try the trio at least once ![]()

The dock workers were locked out by management. They couldn't go to work. It wasn't a strike.
No strike. They are just using ink jet printers. Having a hard time figuring out what's not working
You wish they were on inkjets...
I think I used to have that printer...

PC LOAD LETTER? What the [bleep] does that mean?

It's an olde tymie printer error...it means the printer is trying to print on A4 size paper but it can't...probably because you are out of paper...

I for one plan to use good ol' Lt. Lorrir with a SL Vader.
And Carnor Jax instead of Soontir to get a 98 initiative bid to help dodge all the arcs with Vader and, thanks to Vader, Lorrir.
