Quick question about Screed.

By Chucknuckle, in Star Wars: Armada

He lets you spend a die, to change another die to a face with a 'crit' symbol.

Does this mean I can use it on a black die to change it to a 'crit and a hit' symbol?

Also, what do people think is better on a Gladiator? Expanded launchers or assault concussion missiles?

It seems like the extra 2 damage from a guaranteed crit (thanks to Screed) is worth it, but two extra black dice may yield two extra damage WITHOUT me needing to spend a die.

Also, how does Brace affect the damage from Assault Concussion Missiles? I assume the extra damage to each adjacent hull zone is calculated AFTER any defense tokens have been used?

So if I scored two hits (one being a black crit) and my opponent braced, then I would still score three damage? (one of the original two, plus another one on each adjacent hull zone?)

Sorry, this turned out to be more than a little quick question! I know all these questions have probably been asked before, but I'm playing my first game with Wave 1 tomorrow and don't want to stuff up the rules too much.

Oh, another one. With the Overload Pulse, I assume that the effect is resolved AFTER defense tokens are used?

So I attack, my opponent decides to brace, a Blue Crit goes through and all his other defense tokens are flipped to the orange side. What happens to the brace he used? Is that now discarded? Or does it just stay Exhausted?

I'll try to answer these as best I can.

Changing the black dice: yes you can change it to the hit & crit facing.

ACM's vs. Exp-Launchers: personal preference really. I prefer ACM's because they work from any arc with a black dice, not just the front. Plus they put a lot of pressure on an opponent. I have seen my opponent agonising over defence tokens because I have a potential ACM crit and making bad decisions because of that. Plus ACM's are 6 points cheaper...

ACM's vs defence tokens: correct. Crit effects are resolved after defence tokens are used. So brace will have no effect against the extra damage from ACM's, nor would redirect. So yes, your example for 2 points of damage that is braced would be correct as well. Just remember that in this case the three points of damage you do are spread over 3 arcs.

Overload pulse: correct again. As for the brace token, I am pretty sure that it stays exhausted, not discarded.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, that about clears it up :)

Well, I used a Gladiator with Screed and ASM's in 2 turns of shooting from both arcs to wipe out all shields and then deal 8 damage to a Victory Star Destroyer.

Remember Screed let's you change any dice. This is important because if you want to push damage and have a blank dice you can turn one of your black hits into a hit and crit.

ACMs always have my vote because they are almost a tie fighter cheaper, they work from all arcs, and with Screed the SHEAR damage potential is immense
