This community is the perfect place to share house rules, ideas and concepts (the recent homebrew TIE Aggressor thread is a perfect example; nice work btw) which I wouldn't hear about otherwise. You've all purchased the models, use them however you wish. "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men"
Please, all of you, STOP.
And another perfect example of a click bait post...
With the suggested "fixes" to ships, pilots, weapons, ordinance, maneuvering, tournaments, and every other GD thing you can possibly fathom about this game. It's absurd. Literally every other post, some days, is some clown's new "Awesome Way to Save X-Wingz!" thread, and it's all garbage. Stop trying to nerf/fix/correct/save/change/add stuff because you're not game designers. This game is beautiful. This game is balanced. This game is fun. This game is brilliant. Work on "fixing" your builds or your maneuvering skills if you have that much of a problem, otherwise go play a new game.
Aaaaaaand rant successful.
.........Sorry. Just mad because my Cavs lost Game 1, I think.
STOP misspelling ordnance. My rant over
Tick to this game being far more balanced than most though.

Easy to misspell. In Swedish the word is "ordinans", so it's easy to sneak that 'i' in sometimes. ![]()

You need to talk to my tablets autocorrect not me.
Nerf Interceptors?I got an idea, How about we fix missiles, torpedoes, bombers, X-wings generic E-wings, Star Vipers, MA-3 and nerf Turrets, interceptors, phantoms, and IG-88B.
Yeah, Fel's Wrath is really overpowered. Last night I almost managed to take out Han Solo's shields due to Wrath's overpowered ability.
Kir Kanos is equally stupid, I mean an Interceptor with the possibility of scoring FIVE hits at range one.
Lt. Lorrir's awesome arc dodging barrelrolls are just insane.
And Give Tetran Stay on Target to end up almsot anywhere, that is the very defenition of over powered.
I say, put the Interceptor on the ban list.
Kanos's ability can only be used at range 2-3
Not sure if OP is being sincere or is merely a successful troll.
Either way this thread is a tad hypocritical since this is a complaint as much as any of the threads you are complaining about.
As for why suggest fixed to a great game... Are you serious? That is absolutely absurd. Just because something is great and the best out doesn't mean you shouldnt strive to make it even better. If you just leave small issues there eventually they build up until its possible they reach a critical mass and start ruining the game for people. No matter if you are the best already or you are simply very good at something you should always strive to improve and better yourself. This applies for everything.
I think the fact that there have been a number of Erratas, the phantom fix being the biggest, shows that FFG feels the same way and they are working to constantly improve this game. So why would players not want to help by bringing light issues they have. Sure a lot of suggestions are ridiculous and won't ever happen but a few gems are out there for FFG to find they may not have thought of themselves and even if not then the simple act of making those threads could show FFG the general climate of the game and allow them to decide if they wish to take action or not.
I think it stems from the (debatably useless) jousting values and netdecking. Plauers read what might be successful and stick with the safe bet. Anything that falls outside of that "needs a fix".
Go Warriors!

I never understand why some people want to police the forums this way.
"Oh, look, many people are enjoying making these threads and discussing them. But I don't like them so I will demand them to stop."
I imagine a "house rules" subforum would make all groups happy.
Yeah. Nobody really jousts anymore. They boost out of arcs. There should be a fix to make them boosting values.
This is stupid. Stamp your feet and make click-bait threads typing in caps if you want, but threads about "fixing" ships provoke a lot of meaning discussion, keep the forum buzzing with interested players, and give the game developers a decent sampling of public opinion.
They also promote garbage comments and threads (like this one and those that advocate ideas like action rotated firing arcs for turrets), but the benefit outweights the harm by quite a bit.
So, when are we getting an only rear-firing arc large ship with the SLAM action?
Houserules subforum's not a bad idea.
Reminds me of something the emperor would do. "What?! He said the interceptor needs a fix?! Find his family and pets and wipe them out...all them".
I like reading peoples ideas to "fix" things. Some are way off for sure, but this is the place for them to post and talk about the game they like to play.
There is at least one person somewhere involved with X-wing at ffg who reads these post. I don't mean it's the same person or every post. I just mean when things are talked about they know about it. It gives them a thermometer about what people are happy or unhappy about regardless of the solutions posed.
There is no prefect game, that's true, but that's no reason to stop trying to think how it could be made better. What better place to talk about such ideas than the place that other people who want to make the game better go to talk about it.
I even read your post about how to "fix" the forums
Exactly this. FFG is listening. They don't immediately react to every post there is but they are reacting via errata, new upgrades, ships and mechanics. And for most of the time they do a great job. If they didn't read the bajillion posts about the Phantom they would probably not have nerfed it. And not buffed the Advanced! And both were well-deserved!
To the OP: I was going to make this big long response, but many of the points have already been articulated here.
I would point out that there are almost certainly game designers (obviously not for X-wing) that post on these forums.
My 2 cents: I have pioneered using advanced mathematics to predict X-wing game balance. An example of the model is here. It is a necessary, but not by itself sufficient, component of attaining proper game balance.
Among other things, the model has correctly predicted what the "duds" are in each wave. With zero playtesting it has been a more accurate indicator of game balance than years of FFG game design experience and months of playtesting for each wave. The designers don't have this technical capability. This is not meant as a jab at FFG, it is just a well established fact and the reality of the way things are. This is not a reflection on Alex, Frank, or any of the previous designers. It is a business decision to not hire someone with these technical skills, because such an employee would command a significantly higher salary than what FFG currently pays. They already sell a ton of X-wing product already, so there is little motivation to spend double, triple, or even more on fixed employee costs.
Yeah. Nobody really jousts anymore. They boost out of arcs. There should be a fix to make them boosting values.
This might have been meant as a joke, but, I'm already on it.
I don't plan on making the work / approach public though, as it would be extremely valuable should I decide to use it in my own game design someday.

Not that I care in the slightest about...basketball? (.........Sorry. Just mad because my Cavs lost Game 1, I think.
), but whereabouts in NE ohio are you? I'm in the Akron area and play at JAC games in the valley. (Or do you already go there and I actually already know you?)
I'm east of Cleveland by about 30 mins, I've not yet been down that way but I plan to start venturing down to check out Underhill and whatever else is near Akron for the tournament scene.
You're right, it's not. Ignorant meme.
And yes, this was essentially a giant troll thread that I literally don't care that much about, and posted drunkenly as a venting tool. Sometimes I forget what type of people I'm dealing with regarding this game, and that they can't take anything lightly and they have no room for any alternative passions or interests. Just gonna unsubscribe or delete this or however it works now.

ALL IN — TOGETHER.
I personal like the threads,
it gives you and the designers AN IDEA OF WHAT INTERESTS PEOPLE, THEY MAY NOT USE ANY OF THE IDEAS, BUT I AM SURE IT DOES INFLUENCE THEM IN SOME WAY, IF THEY EVEN READ THE THINGS ON HERE.

Really? After that crazy rant post you're going to try to put this on others on the forums? You get back what you put out.
