So I was fortunate enough to win a regional championship, however, It took place after Nationals registration had gone live and sold out. I am attending Gen Con but never thought I would actually win at regionals so I of course did not register for Nationals. I know worlds has a reserved seat for regionals winners but just wanted to double check that Nationals did not have something similar going on.
Question about Nationals...
If I recall, it did, but that has passed obviously.

On the bright side, while you don't get a bye for Worlds, having a reserved ticket for Worlds is a pretty good deal. Those tickets will be gone in seconds (given that Nationals only took hours, if that).
I wonder whether FFG have done anything to prevent the secondary market for Worlds tickets? I assume it will be name-based rather than ticket-based, otherwise the Worlds tickets will go for a chunk of money I suspect. It will be interesting if they operate a wait list, or just let people in on the day if spaces are available.
Sadly Fidel, you can't have my ticket because I am coming all the way from New Zealand. But it is worth turning up on the day in case of drop outs or late arrivers etc. They may even give you preference if you are lucky.

Wouldn't dream of taking your ticket. I've made that flight before and it's a doozy. Good luck!
You could still attend GenCon, buy some generic tickets, and see if you can't get in that way if people don't show up.

It may be worth emailing [email protected] and ask them what the chances are of getting you first on a (magic but does not necessarily exist) list to replace no shows. It wouldn't hurt I don't think.
I think having the first round bye, they ought to be able to squeeze you in. Just head by around the start and see if you can get in. If you're already at the con you won't have much to lose. Good luck and hope on seeing you compete!
fingers crossed!
I was in the same position in the UK (didn't get a ticket for Nationals but won a Regional). Although Nationals was sold out I was told by the TO that all Regional winners have a guaranteed spot at Nationals if they want it.
