Lost piece of Star Wars History

By Osprey, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I was looking at the news while I was work and stumbled across an article about a short film commissioned by Lucas and filmed by the set designer of the OT and according to the article shown in conjunction with ESB in theaters in the UK. It is said to be the basis of Excalibur and other films. I watched it (had to remember it was filmed 35 years ago) and saw those parallels.

So for those interested here is the link to the article and actual vid on youtube.

Huh, I didn't know that's where the inspiration for the slow-mo fight scene on Dagobah came from. That's very cool. Will have to find some time to watch the short film!

Not sure that is lost Star Wars history... definitely ILM or Lucas Arts history...

Definite shades of "Excalibur" (one of my all-time favorite movies) in this. The eerie music, the forest and mountain backdrops, the melding of nature with the supernatural (Look into the eyes of the Dragon and despair!), and the general surreal feel to it. I half expected the girl to recite the Charm of Making. :) I wanted more!

Correct, nothing in it is SW, the reason it is linked to the history of SW is that Lucas commissioned it to be shown as a short before ESB was shown, he hated it, and it was only shown a few times then was scrapped.

They said they are going to make a feature length of it.
