Some basic questions from a newer

By PauloC, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Hi,

I am quite new to this fantastic games (and old in X Wing). I have some basic questions and please ask for your help ....

1- When you choose a Navigate command and decide to reduce your speed for ex. from 2 to 1. After the activation/round ends, should this speed return to 2 or be mantainedin 1 until a new Navigate command can chamge it? Is the Navigate command effect temporary for the round or permanent until the speed is changed again?

2-The ship's card shows 1 Blue die against Squadrons. When I attack a squadron from 1 hull zone's ship, all the squadrons in range are targeted (e.g. I have 3 squadron's bases in the range of the hull attack that means I roll 3 times, once for each squadron's base), or only 1 squadron's base is attacked from that hull zone?

3-If I have more than 1 critical result in the die going through the ship's shield (0), shoud I deal ever and only 1 face up damaged card, or 1 face up damaged card for EACH critical obtained that was not stopped by the ship's shield.

Sorry if these are so basic questions and thanks for your support !

1 - Your speed would remain at 1 until you used another navigate command or token to change it.

2 - You roll one blue die against each squadron within that arc and within range.

3 - You only deal one critical result per attack regardless of how many critical effect faces are shown on the dice.

Hi Edsel62,

Many thanks for your prompt and clear answers!

Probably 2 more that I forgot to mention in my orevious post:

1- What is counter attack mentioned in some squadron card's ability?

2- When I roll Accuracy in the dice, 1 defense token can be canceled to "this attack". Would "this attack" mean only the first attack of one ship to another from 1 hull zone (and then the deffense token is ready again) or would it remain canceled to the second attack of the same ship (different hull zone) as well?

Many thanks again!

Paulo

"Counter #" is a special ability some fighter squadrons have (tie interceptors, for example). Whenever a squadron with counter is attacked by an enemy squadron the squadron with counter can make an extra attack back at the squadron that is attacking it.

"This attack" refers to the single attack currently being made.

Hey PauloC, Welcome!

Just another tip from an old X-Wing player, make sure you don't confuse critical dice results and critical effects with the way crits are handled in X-Wing (dealing a damage card face up).

Whilst this is how it works in X-Wing, you deal a crit, you deal a card face up, its very different in Armada.

When you roll a critical result - that counts as 1 damage and means at the end of the attack you have the opportunity to resolve a "critical effect". There are many critical effects you could choose to trigger that are granted by upgrade cards, but all ships have access to a "default" which is that if a damage card/s is/are dealt, that the first one is dealt face up.

However, as you explore more ship builds you might prefer instead to trigger a critical effect to exhaust the defenders defense tokens, or deal damage to adjacent facings, instead of the face up card - infact there might not be any cards dealt in those cases, so critical effects could be many other things than just a faceup damage card. The key thing is you only get to choose to do one though, no matter how many of the crit results are rolled! :)

Thanks Forgottdnlore and Maverick (for the Welcome as well),

You are right for a X Wing player in the beggining is difficult to understand Critical effect differently.

But guys, still any help in my question n.2 : does accuracy cancel 1 defense token for both Ship attack (2 different hull zones) or only for the attack of the first hull zone?

Regards,

PauloC

Acurrancy is only for the attack they are rolled in.

Basically accuarcy makes it so the named token can be used against the attack roll of the Accuracy in question.

For example My vic rolls 3 red dice at long range at a Nebulan-b, they result in 1 hit hit, 1 blank and 1 accuracy. I spend the accuracy to prevent the nebulan-b from using its evade token against my roll and deal 2 damage. now, because i am awesome, I also have a second arc and make a separate attack rolling 1 hit, and 1 blank. The nebulan can now use its evade token because this is a different attack and cancels my hit suffering 0 damage
