Quick Question

Should we be expecting any announcements during Origins Game Fair, going on right now? I see that Asmodee Games (FFG's parent company) is there but I didn't see anything about FFG being there.

Also, any ETA on when the Imperial Raider and Wave 7 will come out?

Nope.

I would think you have a better chance of obtaining info at GenCon than you do Origins.

Nope. FFG doesn't have a presence at Origins.

Now, it is the safe haven for Wizkids after causing Gencon issues.

Care to elaborate? I'm curious what happened.

I wasn't there, but I heard reports that there were massive lines of people waiting to buy Con exclusives at Wizkids' Gencon booth. The crowd control was allegedly terrible, and some people were shoved around or pushed against the wall. Then, when the lines of people got to the actual point of sale, Wizkids told them they ran out of Con exclusives, leading to much consternation.

Sounds about right. It wasn't a pleasant experience.

From what I heard people were also lied to about the quantity of con exclusives available.

I don't really like wizkidz way of doing exclusives it's the kind of pay to win tactic that ruins online games.

Templates and tokens are nice but not game changing.

Having "early release" material is one thing but those "only available here, for a limited time, in limited quantities, and still perfectly legal for official game use" materials really need to stop. It's one thing to create a little buzz by having teasers about what it to come but those mad dash things that you have to be there to get are crazy.

A lot of online sellers are listing the raider as 6/30, 7/31, or somewhere between.

This is my favorite so far. Between the bold red and the "Imprial Raider".

Raider will probably either be "secretly" released in the next month or so, or it will be "pre"-released at GenCon. Not sure if I like the pre-release option.

The problem is that Wizkids makes those exclusives "exclusive" and, at the same time, very powerful. What ends up happening is that you have many speculators/scalpers show up to the Wizkids booth just to get the latest exclusives and sell them on ebay a minute later.

Yeah. I wouldn't mind at all if Wizkids sell some "exclusives" at the Cons but then sell retail versions of them at stores later. That, or sell Con exclusives that are novelties - cool to look at but not very strong in the game. Having very strong Con exclusives is just a recipe for madness and disaster.

The best con exclusives I can recall were for star fleet battles. There is a faction in that game whose main ships are hollowed out asteroids. So the company packaged up some small rocks in official packaging and gave them out at cons.
