Super Dash and two Bs?

By KieranHalcyon, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Let me just say that I loooove B-Wings. And I've been trying to figure out how to fit a pair of Blue Squadron Pilots in with Super Dash.

Super Dash is usually constructed as

Dash Rendar 36

HLC 7

Kyle KAtarn 3

Outirder title 5

Push the Limit 3

Engine Upgrade 4

58 points total which leaves us with 42 more points, 2 points too few for two Blue B-wings. The two reductions I have thought of are using a MAngler Cannon instead of the HLC, for a total of 98 points (and eliminating the donut hole issue, which might be a good thing since the B-Wings can't keep up with Dash) or using Nien Numb in place of Kyle, since Nien does make it easier to clear stress (especially if Dash needs to bug out at speed 4 ahead). What do you all think?

I had fun running Dash with Lone Wolf and Recon Specialist. He's not quite as zippy as PTL Dash but he does better when stress is floating around and Lone Wolf with two focus tokens can make him quite tanky (especially at range 3). He lets you bring a pair of naked Bs with 3 points left to spare.

I love this build. With 2 B's at 97 points, slap a Proton Rocket on him for good measure.

That's pretty sweet! :D I'll miss the EU though.

The bad news is, your action economy isn't nearly as good. The good news is your dial isn't limited to greens.

Fir store championships I ran BBig Leeboski

With the full dial of the 2400 available and the native barrel-roll for positioning I didn't really miss being able to boost.

I haven't ran this since Autothrusters came out so being able to reposition Dash's arc probably has more value that it used to.

I call this Dash has the Blues:

Dash

+PTL

+Mangler

+Kyle

+Outrider

Blue x 2

+FCS

You lose the outright damage output of the HLC, but I think both Bs make up for it especially with FCS. You also lose the donut hole which makes EU not as important. With Barrel Roll you can still be pretty dodgey anyway.

From my first and only tournament appearance using Dash:

2 Blues > Chewbacca.

Regarding an Outrider equipped with HLC vs Mangler....

I feel that the Mangler would be the better option, especially if it allows you to fit a ship as punchy as a B-Wing into your squad.

Sure, you lose out on that 4th attack die, but considering most opponents (in tourney settings) will have lots of abilities (IG's, other Dashes, Soontir, etc), the constant threat of a critical hanging over their heads will be more disruptive than the extra damage. Blinded or Injured pilot, Damaged Engine, Damaged Sensor Array...all of these will really tip the advantage to you when they get through.

Not to mention, you have a great chance of the ol' Direct Hit.

Great input guys! I see that the EU doesn't matter so much without the hole, can't wait to try that squad out. I actually might try swapping out on B-Wing w/ FCS for Tarn with R7, either way it seems super punchy.

I won a Dash vs Dash matchup because he used HLC when I had Mangler. I stacked 4 crits on him before his Dash exploded.

But hlc is better at punching through an arc dodgers mountain of green dice

I think super dash may actually work better with A wings that can keep up with him.

Dash

-HLC, outrider, PTL, Kyle katarn

2x Green squadron

-test pilot, refit, PTL, VI, auto thrusters

I feel with this setup, the A wings are just as survivable as b wings if played properly. Either taking focus/evade, or boosting to avoid arcs. You also have flexibility of taking focus/TL if you know no one is shooting at you that round. Auto thrusters are also a free evade against a turret filled meta. They are less Killy but way more manuevarable and potentially even more survivable if played properly than Blues, the higher PS is also a nice boost

Here is Dash with double warthogs. The ions can keep em pinned while HLC does its work.

Me thinks that B- and Y- wings do not pair well with Dash and here is why:

Dash is arguably the most manuverable large ship. E- and A- wings can keep up with him. You add abilities like Corran Horn and you have a tough choice for the defender who to focus upon first. Take the ability away, and the support just becomes and annoyance. Float some tanky minivans to support him and Dash will get singled out and killed first because the others cannot keep up. Try to slow dash down to keep the escort handy, and he dies first.

I do not mean to take anything away from Y and B wings. Tough buggers they are. However, they do not seem to mesh well with fast fat turrets IMHO.

With Lone Wolf you want Dash to create distance from his escort. If the Y-wings get ignored, they can pummel and ion. If the opponent concentrates on Y's, it's easier for Dash to kite. I'm not saying that speed wouldn't be helpful but I'm okay with tanky brawlers.

I have been playing around with a Leebo + determination build with x2 Blues.

Leebo - Determination, outrider, mangler, hull upgrade, Chewbacca

x2 Blue - FCS

It comes in at 99 so you get that bonus. The way I play is to keep Leebo at range 3 for as long as possible and soften up the pack with the Blues. When they die, Leebo should have enough health via determination & Chewbacca to fight til the end.

PS. I don't have 3PO, but that could work too.
