Two quick questions...

By DanWW2, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi!

I've just played my first quick game of 'X-wing' (and lost against my girlfriend- doh!), and wondered if anyone could clarify a couple of very basic questions?

Firstly, if a 'red' manouevre is performed, I understand that no 'action' may be performed by that ship until the stress counter is removed, by performing an 'easy' (green) manouevre.

I understand that this ship may not perform an action (like evade or focus), but can it still take part in combat? Also, does the stress token stay on through 'normal' (white arrow) moves turn after turn until that ship performs a 'green' arrow move?

Secondly, the 'Minor Explosion' critial hit states that the player must immediately roll 1 damage dice, and on a * (positive for damage) result, suffer 1 damage and turn the card over. Is this IN ADDITION to the card itself causing 1 damage? I.E. an unlucky roll means two damage points sustained?

Thanks in advance! :o)

Firstly, yes you can still take part in the Combat phase unless your maneuver has landed you on an asteroid. And your stress tokens will stay with your ship until you perform a green maneuver, when you get to remove one each time you perform a green maneuver.

With the Minor Explosion crit, an unlucky roll will result in another damage card being drawn facedown for the ship.

Great- thanks for the fast and straightforward reply! I'm looking forward to getting through the teething stage and playing some more games! :)

I just want to remind you that a Minor explosion only causes damage on that [boom/hit/filled in explosion symbol] result. A [kaboom/crit/open explosion] does nothing in this case although it could lead to damage during a normal attack. Some people like thinking the later will fill the requirement for the former.

Stress doesn't stop combat. It just makes it a bit harder by forbidding actions and restricting maneuver choices.
