Big green monster

By Russells teapot, in X-Wing Squad Lists

All,

Playing with a turret in a tournament for the first time in a couple of years, as every other bugger seems to at the moment.

I wanted it to be a bit different though...

Chewbacca - PtL, Engine Upgrade, Han Solo (crew), Millennium Falcon

Green A wing - Refit, Test pilot, Stealth Device, Veteran instincts, PtL

Green A wing - Refit, Test pilot, Stealth Device, Veteran instincts, PtL

100 points

Looks extremely "zippy", and with a mid range PS can either block the big boy ships, or outmanoeuvre the swarms.

I'm not convinced on Chewie's upgrades (I started with Lando (crew), C3PO and predator, but was underwhelmed by Lando & ended up here).

Any advice?

Cheers

If you have calculation run that on both the A-wings as VI is all but a worthless upgrade for PS 3 ships. Going to PS 5 doesn't help much at all. There isn't a bunch of PS 4 and 5 pilots being used. Heck running adrenaline rush is probably more useful.

I don't know about Han crew. He does take some of the randomness out of the dice, but you need to keep a TL for him to be useful. I would probably just go with Predator and C3. You'll get the most out of those. Lando is kind of fun, but in a serious competition setting I wouldn't bring him. He'll let you down more than not.

Thanks for the input,

The VI is on the A wings to make everyone move and shoot at the same time, giving me control on self bumping (if I'm on a blocking run and I'm informed on high PS enemy movement by his low PS movement, for example), it also prevents rebel captive from only affecting Chewie.

You've given me something to think about on the MF upgrades. I'm not sure if I'm overestimating the effect that Han will have on my dice - predator may be a better fit, in which case I don't need Han, which opens up C3-PO again...

Cheers!

Also, if you drop Push the limit for predator, then Rebel Captive is not such a bother, and the VI becomes unnecessary on the a-wings. Its really not that great for them. a-wings want Push the Limit/predator, or perhaps outmanoeuvre, or if you can afford it, proton rockets (dropping Chardaan refit makes them more expensive though).

Yeah, unfortunately Golden Rod is pretty much in auto-include on a Falcon. He's by far the most under-costed upgrade in the game.

The A-wings can take the stress, but if you PTL they'll be double stressed. Also, they may not always have a shot on the Decimator.
