Question about Sorcery

By Felin, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hello

I just got Crusade of the Forgotten where the OL can gain the Forgotten Sorcery OL Card.

My question is really simple :

does anyone know if the Sorcery power stack?

does a Sorcerer with Sorcery 2 with "Forgotten Sorcery" on his group gains Sorcery 4 ?

In short

Sorcery X + Sorcery Y = Sorcery X+Y ?

In know Piece, Aura do but found nothing about Sorcery

(by the way neither about Mend, Energy Drain or Regeneration but those I don't think there is a possibility, up to now, to have twice the power ... )

It's worth asking, but I would assume sorcery stacks with forgotten sorcery, as if the monster card had "sorcery 2, sorcery 2."

I agree with Zaltyre. I would say getting it again would be Sorcery 2, Sorcery 2, and each can be used separately.

I just send an asking to FFG !

while we wait ...

what do you mean by "each can be used separately" ?

technicaly I don't see how you can use them separately, or more precisely what would be the benefits of such a separation ?

Indeed if you are missing 1 range the only thing you will able to do is change one [heart] in 1 range once there ... you can do nothing more!

be they separe or cumulated!

So from my point of view even if "Sorcery 2, Sorcery 2" represents the exact powers you have ... I would find "Sorcery 4" more easy to understand / use

But perhaps have I missed something ?

Sorcery 2, Sorcery 2 == Sorcery 4.

I believe there's a rule somewhere in 2E that says powers don't stack unless they explicitly say they do stack, but the observation being made here is that even if they "don't stack," 2 x Sorcery 2 would still function the same as Sorcery 4.

I agree with Steve-O, and sorry if I was unclear earlier. Sorcery 2, Sorcery 2 is functionally equivalent to Sorcery 4. Pierce 1, Pierce 1 is functionally equivalent to Pierce 2 - each Pierce can remove a damage. I just separate them out as there are some abilities which don't "stack" (notably surge abilities). Whether the "stackable" abiltiies are treated as one "big" ability (Sorcery 4) or two identical "smaller" abilities (Sorcery 2, Sorcery 2) doesn't matter, as in those cases they are functionally equivalent to each other :)
