Is "evasive maneuvers" useless going last?

By Darth Rubi, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire Beginner Game

Hi All

I've just been reading through the adventure book for the beginner game. I noticed that the "evasive maneuvers" maneuver lasts until the beginning of the next round. It strikes me that this makes the maneuver completely useless if, say, an NPC goes after the PCs in initiative order - because the effect of it will wear off before anyone would get the chance to shoot.

Say the initiative goes:

PC1

PC2

PC3

NPC TIE fighters

Is there ANY point to the TIE fighters doing evasive maneuvers? Have I misunderstood something? Because it seems like the at the beginning of the new round, PC1 can shoot at the TIE fighters as if they never did the evasive maneuvers because they only last until the beginning of the next round.

Thanks in advance for the help!

The Beginner Game is in error. Note that in the Core Rulebook, the effects of Evasive Maneuvers last until the end of the pilot's next turn , not the beginning of the next round. This is in keeping with the dynamic initiative order.

The same applies to the Stay on Target maneuver.

They fixed these errors in the Age of Rebellion Beginner Game .

Thanks! That's good to know. I'm glad that I wasn't alone in thinking it was completely broken :P
