Pardon my ignorance, but will someone tell me what a Swiss match is ?

I'm a Newbie myself - but the term is derived from "Swiss Chess System" I believe - where players with similar tournament points (i.e. the same number of wins / losses) get paired up for a match - that way, everyone of a similar skill tends to get a close / good match. At the end of each round, the rankings are calculated and 1 plays 2, 3 plays 3 etc (assuming that they haven't played each other already).

I hope that makes sense.
