Darth Vader (32)

Vader really needs EU
Darth Vader (32)
TIE Advanced (29), Predator (3)Black Squadron Pilot (17) x 4TIE Fighter (14), Predator (3)Thats it. I would not try to dodge arcs with Vader. Very straight forward with using focus + evade mainly. Try to draw some fire with Vader. The Blackies should be able to do some damage as well.Would this be usable? What do you think?
If I was going to play Vader now I'd really try to find a way to get Proton Rockets on him, especially if he's surrounded by other 2 attack ships. A well placed TL+Focus Proton Rocket can swing the momentum of a game.
The list looks cool but at the end of the day all you've really got is a miniswarm that gets rerolls with no anchor. Vader is really just the fifth TIE in the miniswarm, sure he's tankier and has a high PS, but he doesn't set up the dilemma of dealing with either the ace or the miniswarm first.
It's interesting because you essentially have Howlrunner's ability for 15 pts instead of 18 pts but you lack her added attack. At least you'll still get rerolls down to the last TIE.

It seems like you are really paying the same 18 points to have a distributed Howlrunner as you'd pay for the actual Howlrunner. Predator is really costing you 4 points a TIE since you'd probably take Obsidians if you didn't need the EPT slot.
True, Black Squadron Pilots with Predator just turn them into glass cannons ....
And Vader would not be really helpful.
Still, I am going to give it a try.
Oh ...
What do you people think about:
5 x Blackies + Predator + Hull Upgrade?

Can't say I like it. You have 5 two attack ships, which means high agility ships will eat you for breakfast as you have neither the big attacks or the shear volume of attacks to reliably break through the defenses. And, even with a hull upgrade, TIEs aren't exactly the most durable things around and you're a bad roll from a dead ship. You'd be better off dropping to Obsidian or Academy Pilots and squeezing in Howlrunner, then learning to fly in a manner that keeps her alive for a good while.
I think if you're committed to trying a mini-swarm of Black Squadron Pilots with Predator, I'd go with four of em' and then throw in Turr Phennir with thrusters, VI, and a Stealth Device (or even a PTL Royal Guard or, for the laughs, Tetran Cowell). I know you're going for something thematic, and feel free to give it a run with Vader and see how it goes, but you really need your ace in this squad to be someone that can actually pack a little bit of a punch. When ATC comes out, then Vader will I think have enough to shine (even though he'll almost certainly be the first target).
