2 Handed Powerhouse Deck ally-less

By jjenks476, in Strategy and deck-building

I wanted to build two decks that only used attachments and events, no allies. This has proved incredibly challenging, espcially against NM quests. But I finally built 2 decks that have only 6 allies between them and they have managed to crush most NM quests and almost every normal one.

Blood of Numenor 3

Lembas 3

Mirror of Galadriel 1

Star Brooch 2

Events: (12)

A Test of Will 3

Deck 2 - Heroes: Tactagorn, Mablung, Halbarad. Threat 32

Deck 50 Cards

Allies: (3)

Errand Rider 3

Attachments: (32)

Gondorian Fire 3

Secret Vigil 3

Blade of Gondolin 2

Rohan Warhorse 2

Arod 2

Gondorian Shield 3

Steward of Gondor 3

Cram 3

Celebrian's Stone 2

Sword that Was Broken 3

Spear of the Citadel 2

Elven Mail 2

Heir of Mardil 2

Events: (15)

Quick Strike 3

Behind Strong Walls 3

Second Breakfast 3

Campfire Tales 3

Foe-Hammer 3

The strategy is get Blood of Numenor and Gondorian Fire on Mablung and Halbarad who soak up resources. Then put SoG and Gondorian Shield on Halbarad, throw elven mail burning brand on Elrond and defense is never really too scary. Tactagorn kills and adds progress on the quest, while pulling enemies down fueling Mablung. Gandalf does everything in between with Shadowfax. This deck would probably be slightly better with Glorfindel than Galadriel, but I refuse to use him, and Galadriel's card draw and threat reduction is handy. Errand Rider smooths out resources and Gandalf's staff generally cancels shadow cards. This deck is tons of fun to play and almost ally-less but those 6 are too critical. The onyl real problem comes with massive amounts of willpower needed. But generally all 6 of my heroes quest and most can ready righ after; Shadowfax on Gandalf, LOV on Elrond, Heir of Mardil on Galadriel, Halbarad doesn't exhause with enemy, and Wingfoot for Tactagorn or Mablung.

Let me know if you have any suggestions.

How did I know that Gandalf would be in this deck...

Looks like a great pair of decks! I like how you managed to stick to theme as well.

If you are lacking willpower and are looking for non-ally suggestions you could consider Visionary leadership (+1 WP to all Gondor characters). You've got 6 Gondor allies and 1 (2 with SoG) Gondor heores. So for a 2-cost attachment it's a nice deal.

I'm curious, why Quick Strike over Feint? Is it for the few enemies that are immune to player card effects?

I prefer Quick Strike only because I'd rather spend a resource and kill an enemy which I am going to do anyways instead of waiting till attack phase. Plus it allows me to rearange enemy distribution with Aragorn if I need to.
