Fighter Range on Ships

By droz69, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

So, I know Fighters have to be in Range 1 for firing on other fighters.

Do ships need to be in range 1 to fire on fighters, or can they be in blue dice range, Range 2? (I believe they have to be in range 1)

The B-Wing has a Blue die added to it's attack pool against ships, can it attack with the Blue Die at Range 2? The A-Wing has a Red Die, can it attack at Range 3 against ships? (I've only had a chance to play 1 game, hoping to get many more games in the coming months)

Or, is everything at Range 1, no matter what when it comes to fighters on fighters, ships on fighters, and fighters on ships?

First let's clarify your terms. Blue dice fire out to medium range and squadrons need to be in distance 1 of each other. There is no "range 1" or "range 2" but there is distance 1, distance 2, close range, medium range etc.

A squadron must be at distance 1 to fire on a ship, regardless of the color of the dice involved. The only exception to this that I can think of is the ability from Major Rhymer.

A ship firing on a squadron can use the normal ranges for the dice involved, the process to create the attack pool (what dice are rolled) is exactly the same as when firing at a capital ship. Right now all the ships have blue dice as their anti-squadron armament, so a ship can use its anti-squadron armament against squadrons at close to medium range.

To summarize, with the exception of Major Rhymer, squadrons have to be at distance 1 of their target. Ships can fire out to the full range of their armament.

If you look at the two sides of the ruler, the range side (for ships) shows blue dice icons out to range 2. On the distance side (for squadrons), all three dice color icons are in the distance 1 band.

Rans, that actually clarifies perfectly. We have been playing that Anti-Fighter dice on Ships are close range like fighters are, so that was apparently incorrect. Thanks for the clarification!
