Seems like a really cool idea at a reasonable price. I like that you can also stick it under your existing mat, so any slippery vinyl ones you have laying around become much more usable.

Shipping is a tad steep, but some of my friends are going for the 4-person bundle which comes out to $55 CAD per person.

I had a friend that was slightly worried such a large magnet will mess with phones and watches. Probably won't be the case since it has to be thin enough to be rolled up.

Very interesting. But I wonder if it effects the dice bounce at all. I dislike mats/cloth that don't let the dice bounce after hitting the surface.

And you may keep your current maps, because the magnetic effect still works, if you put a map like the new FFG map over it.

Seems like a lot of good thought went into this project. Prices seem pretty reasonable too. Good to see the funding goal wasn't stupidly high either.

I particularly like the fact you can combo the mats with other mats, since I prefer neoprene.

I already am down for the 36x36 + 36x72. The price seems too good to pass up.

Just wanted to answer a few questions.

1. Magnets are small, the mat is mostly receptive, like a fridge magnet so it should not mess up your phone. I still would be cautious on placing anything on it tho. Just to be sure.

2. Dice bounce just like on a Vinyl mat.

3. Shipping is steep because the mats do have some weight. I placed a "bulk" order option for shipping to the EU. If you found some friends to buy mats, the per mat cost is reasonable with the shipping.

I was on the fence about backing this until that death star map was added. Now I'm sure I want to... as soon as that mat is unlocked (none of the other designs are really doing it for me - they're too busy).

If you already have weighted bases (fender washers) will they still hold to the mat, or the provided magnets must be used?

Out of interest, the mag-receptive and magnetic materials I have used for my various home-brew projects have all been rather prone to kinks and curling - especially after extended use - I've just gotten around it by glueing some thick felt on the back - how have you addressed the issue ?

I can't wait for my Trench map! This is going to add some fun scenario play!
