Dual-wielding Decivader.
Is it possible to double trigger Vader using gunner? Attack all miss, Vader, then reattack and hit (possibly) and Vader again?
I like the idea of using the patrol deci, I've flown something similar to yours before,
Patrol + Vader + tact jam
Sigma + recon + FCS + ACD
Avenger + AT
100pts

I like this idea but where you'll struggle is BBBBZ (or it's variants), x4 Hogs, Super Dash, and even Dual FireSprays. You're basically putting 48pts into a self-destructing ship. Further, the two Sabers are PS4, so they will move first and with their low HP, they will go down fast.
I play a Boba\IGB list lately and I would just target the x2 Sabers almost instantly, then on to blow up the 48pt exploding mass. Granted, Vader always does good work, but with the IG at Range 3 with HLC, I'd chew through that thing pretty quick.
Lastly to Panic217, yes, Vader triggers twice if Gunner is used.

Yes it is.
You don't necessarily have to use Vader every time you attack either. I never use him against shields as I find that isn't a good trade off. So against a BBBBZ list I wouldn't bother with Vader unless it meant finishing off a B. Tricky thing in that match up will be getting the Decimator in position to fire without exposing it to all those guns. Maybe the Interceptors can help distract the Bs.
Its a decent counter to Rear Adm. Fel though.

I see this working because of the Patrol Leader + Vader being a sacrificial damage dealer. Of course something with no defense is going to die fast. I see the maker of the build maybe flying in hard with the Decimator to deal out damage and crits only to die later. But then you have those two ghost ships aka Interceptors to try and hit.
How are you going to peg down TWO Interceptors? Chase them around the map while the 360 turret is Vadering you?

Do you have to have PTL on the squints?
You could get 2 RGPs with VI & AT for 50pts. Gets you PS8 for an easier time arc-dodging.

If i was to run interceptors I'd drop the Engine Upgrade and upgrade the Omnicron to a Yorr and eat the stresses. He'd still get the free focus, but would be able to do it again next turn without the need for a green
TBH i dont have much faith in the Interceptors, one bad roll and its a dead 30+ points

I like the idea of this list. Its not going to be an easy win against some of the tough meta matchups, but it gives you a fighting chance if you can fly it right. I agree that in the current meta, sabres are just as good as royal guards in terms of pilot skill.

I think I'd rather have PTL and PS4 than have PS8 Interceptors with a single action. The Sabres would be stronger against anything 3 or lower and 9 or higher. The Royal Guards only have any advantage over the Sabers against PS5-8 opponents.
I figure that I've got a fair chance of taking out a pair of Blue Squadron B-Wings using a Saber with PTL and AT (assuming I can avoid getting blocked) but don't have much of a chance of doing the same with an RGP with VI. Likewise, the Sabres with PTL are better able to stay alive against Han to maybe catch him in arc and punch some damage through.

The kinds of things that I'd want to use Vader on are also the kinds things that Shuttles are going to have a hard time getting in arc. Vader on a range three turret is maybe the last thing that Soontir Fel (especially if he doesn't have Shield Upgrade) wants to see on the table. I'll happily take what amounts to 12 squad points worth of damage on the Decimator to deal 2 crits to Soontir Fel.

Yeah, Vader isn't something I'm planning on using willy-nilly. I am hoping that the threat of Vader is strong enough to make my opponent second guess himself and go outside of his comfort zone. I think that having the VT-49 shooting after the Interceptors will work out nicely. The decision to Vader will be made after all of my ships have shot.

I'm experiencing many matchups wich Soontir is absolutely key to have any chance, basically is more a game of how many ships I can kill before is Soontir vs the world. I think you'll suffer a lot more than I do vs Brobots or Bobba for example if you use saber pilots
Of course the alpha sucks compared to the RGP or the sabers when playing vs BBBBZ or anything related.
Fel, Whisper Corran etc small elite ships + fat turret is one of the best matchups for this lists as the Vader Oicunn is too big a threat for them, then 2 autoceptors plus the remaining Oicunn life is a lot for the turret. That's why I'm not completely convinced on the gunner, You are right that sometimes the decimator misses the hit, but I think the gunner improves good matchups and does not improve a lot on the worst matchup... (you are going to hit that B anyhow...) And the soontir is critical to win Firesprays, IGs (or at least to have a chance...)
Also from my experience playing this, when the oponent sees this list he is thinking something like "Ummm a Chirpy without mitigation....Let's kill it" then they die because of the squints (hopefully), but the decimator is dying 90% of the games and it's a lot of points, adding gunner .... is some more. I more often miss an EU than the gunner basically to flee from blue squadron arcs ![]()
I'll test it anyhow, because I see that the gunner can improve vs brobots or firesprays and moving from alpha to saber would be good vs bs...
But I'd like to do it without downgrading fel to RGP or saber, I'd take out Oicunn for PL and the SD freeing points to go for Gunner or only the SD and move the alpha to RGP

On my list, I could probably swap Gunner for Intel Agent + Engine Upgrade. That would help the VT-49 take less damage from low PS swarms and help the list as a whole setup blocking opportunities and attempt to get higher PS pilots in arc.
I wish I had time to get in more games so I could try it both ways against a number of different lists.
Ummm EU and IA can be a real help vs BBBBZ, I'll give it also a try ![]()
