I think you'll get more out of r3a2 than r2 and shield on that gold squadron.
the blues are fine. FCS blues are a great ship. other options are advanced sensors or ion cannon for a control list, but that's just personal judgement there.
I always look at my list, and think of some common opponents and how to beat them.
Soontir Fel/phantom - multiple arcs, possible blocking, r3-a2 gives a decent weapon
Dual Aggressors - FCS blues will get damage through, but have a hard time keeping up and out of range 3.
Fat ships. FCS blues will do well, just keep the arcs spread enough they can't boost away.
Tie Swarm - here the r3a2 doesn't do as well, but if they've got one 'ace' ships (maybe howlrunner?) a double stress from r3a2 is killer. FCS blues are weaker than the advanced sensors variant, but still doable.

I'd drop the SU on the Y-wing to give one of the Blues an Ion Cannon. That way you have the ability to Ion a large ship in a single turn. Also the above suggestion of R2-A3 on the Y-wing is a good one. Double stressing an enemy ship is pretty awesome. Especially if they are an arc-dodgey one. You'll just have to be good with the fact that your Y-wing will never action again.
SU on the Y-wing could be R3-A2
that ship is single-handedly capable of slowing any sort of high PS concern that might otherwise plagued this build.
if you want to be extra awesome, you could then slap b/emod and int agent on one of the Bs.
Thanks a lot guys! The updated list looks like this:
I've got a couple of games lined up tomorrow and for the weekend. I'll report back here afterwards.
Double-Ion any Decimator out there and squeal with glee. ![]()
I borrowed your latest incarnation for a quick game on Vassal vs RaC/Soontir and won 100-27.
My opponent flew the Baron way too aggressively, so i managed to stress him with Y while already stressed from Ptl and brought him down after 3 turns of focused fire. Then it was RaC time who managed to kill the Ion B and put a Weapon Malfunction on the Y, so it took a little more time but finally exploded, too.
I'll give it more try, for sure. But it seems pretty solid.
Edited by LouisCypherThis was similar to a list I few when I first started playing. I had the ion turret un-A4ed so that the Y could ion anything that chased it, and let the Bs slip in behind to pound it until it was dead.
Panik II (100/100)
=================
Y-wing: Gold Squadron Pilot (18 + 7)
+ R3-A2 (2)
+ Ion Cannon Turret (5)
+ BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)
Z-95: Lieutenant Blount (17 + 4)
+ Deadeye (1)
+ Ion Pulse Missiles (3)
B-wing: Blue Squadron Pilot (22 + 5)
+ Fire Control System (2)
+ B-Wing/E2 (1)
+ Tactician (2)
B-wing: Blue Squadron Pilot (22 + 5)
+ Ion Cannon (3)
+ Fire Control System (2)
I thought about this variant, comments?
There is no point in putting deadeye on Blount. His missile will hit, regardless. That ept will only work for his one missile too. Use the point on something else or go one point cheaper for an initiative bid.
Deadeye let you fire your missiles with focus instead of Target Lock.
Munition failsafe is usless on him, i agree, if it's what you intended
Wow.... I totally misunderstood that card. I thought it was implying that u had to have a target lock and a focus, but discard focus to fire, therefore u could use target lock rerolls.
Thanks a lot guys! The updated list looks like this:
Blue Squadron Pilot + Fire-Control System (24)
Blue Squadron Pilot + Fire-Control System (24)
Blue Squadron Pilot + Fire-Control System + Ion Cannon (27)
Gold Squadron Pilot + BTL-A4 Y-Wing + R3-A2 + Ion Cannon Turret (25)
I've got a couple of games lined up tomorrow and for the weekend. I'll report back here afterwards.
I'm 9-3 so far on Vassal, it seems to work pretty well after a little bit of practice.
How about your experience?
