Honestly I'm an insanely patient guy, but even I am beginning to grind my teeth a little.

I seem to be inadvertantly doing the same. I went to the dentist the other day, another opportunity for the world to throw sand in my face...

Dentist: Hmmmm. Some evidence of grinding here. Do you grind your teeth?

Me: [muffled] I don't think so...

Dentist: Do you grind them when you're asleep?

Me: [still muffled] I don't know

Dentist: Well don't you sleep with anyone who can tell you?

Me: [muffled, sadly] no....

Clearly the delay is affecting my health! gran_risa.gif

1. I didn't know "late September release!" meant Fall. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Check the link. When you see the RT post it says the release date is Expected by: Fall 2009 .

Back of Forsaken Bounty "August 2009" and it doesnt say "to only a lucky few at GenCon", no it says "AVAILABLE". So what we have here is conflicting and multiple release dates announced in different styles. We've heard August (in the publicly released deadtree preview adventure used to generate interest with those not on the website so thier main exposure is through the free demo), September, Fall and Autumn. Now they all collide together under wikipedia's entry for fall, as the dates there are also inconclusive.

What isnt inconclusive is FFGs inability to follow through on what they promise, as proven by the Knowledge is Power lie released earlier this year that hasnt come even close to accurate as well as the previous releases for DH being deayed with no word as to when they will really be available until the day they suddenly spring up on the website as now available.

The other conclusive fact is that people are getting antsy and angry at the delays/lack of communication, whether rightly so or not. This leads to a decline in interest and expectations and possible lower sales. Which in turn results in the poorer performances of additional releases later on which will kill the game.

FFG needs to drop some of their many other games to put focus on fewer projects, or just f*ck*ng bite the bullet and hire a bigger staff.

I did afterall gie them $120 on good faith that I would get a book, and at least a mass email now and then updating me and the rest of us early birds would be polite, proper and dare I say it, PROFESSIONAL!

And the rest of you who want to lay down and get treated like a submissive wallet, go ahead, but those complaining have a right to do so, so let them.

and the complaining will continue i think until FFG addresses them in some way.

But we all know FFG staff doesn't read the forums that often so all these posts are pretty much only being read by other posters.

Um... the Upcoming is next to useless when it comes to any release dates, I never listen to it because it's very often wrong. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Funny, so many people complain about FFG not giving them new information - they have. The old information was "August 2009". This has been updated to "Fall 2009". The smart thing to do would probably have been to keep quiet and not given any release date whatsoever.

This right here is why FFG should keep this kind of information to themselves. They were kind enough to give us Knowledge is Power and what do they get? Accusations of dishonesty. The release dates in KiP turned out to be wrong. That makes them a mistake, not a lie.

Or... not. No one is going to remember this in six months.

I suppose they could drop Dark Heresy or Rogue Trader, as those products probably aren't as profitible as some of the their other lines.

Or they could just stop giving us information about upcoming releases. This is what a lot of RPG companies do these days and quite simply it's because of exactly the kind of whining nerdrage in this thread. I've seen the exact same thing happen with other companies - they give the fans info on planned release dates for the following year, people complain when those dates are put back, they stop giving out the info and the aggro they suffer goes away. Expect to see fewer sneak peaks at future products from FFG from now on.

Or they take care of all their problems with future KiP and other release dates by adding the word Tentative or Expected By before them or in a little disclaimer bubble somewhere.

Oh, they already did that on their Upcoming product page.

I'm a little bewildered here why people seem to think that "up and coming" articles are done out of kindness. I was rather under the impression that it was about promotion. Advertising indeed. Making money, not unlikely ...

I feel a little miffed that so many people were complaining and moaning for, what it now seems like, absolutely nothing.

FFG said it would be available late September and, lo and behold, it will be in shops in a week. Now *checks his calendar* that MAY make it maybe a couple days late, but that ain't bad by anyones standards.

Maybe the moral of this story is:

"FFG didn't feel they had to update people on the status because they were pretty much STILL ON SCHEDULE"

*Strokes chin*

What do you think on this matter?

Discuss...

I found the 3 release dates by peacekeeper funny... because....

The initial release of august was announced on the back of fallen bounty....

They announced they would have copies at Gen Con -- which was apparently misconstrued as the official release date by some...

then It was updated to fall in the upcoming section...

and shortly after Gen Con they announced it would be done end of september.

That seems to me like they updated their release schedule as it became apparent they needed to shift the deadlines due to the progress of the game. As a person who used to draft memos to be released to the public in the Air Force, anything I wrote had to be approved by 5 different people. I would spend about three hours researching and writing a memo, then it would be checked by public affairs, then checked by higher ups in my chain of command.

Now in the case of Fantasy Flight Games they have a similar issue where most things they publish have to be checked by: lawyers, advertising, and their higher ups. So for everything that is posted on this site, it actually takes a day of collective effort from multiple people. Asking for constant updates actually requires taking people away from their job. Bigger things like batches of release dates have meetings associated with them.

Not that anyone who complained will care now that they got the official word. Just polite info for the future.

On the subject of the last sneak peak - perhaps it was so light on "hard" info because they knew that before a week had passed they'd have a much bigger, more satisfying announcement to make.

Also, on the whole "I've already paid for my collectors edition and I want it NOW NOW NOW!!!!! WAAAAAAA!!!!" - I hate to tell you guys this but it was for a preorder, absolutely nothing in that word gives any guarantee that you will get a copy before the main retail release - hell, for many products you have to wait for a while after the main product release before a company even starts taking orders for a collectors edition. You have paid your moneys in order to secure a copy of the CE when and only when it is released.

Now that I've that off my chest time to put on my asbestos thermals lengua.gif

Well there it is in the flesh.

See everything comes to those who wait, lets just hope it lives up to the hype!

I was getting a bit worried as I had heard the Emperor had had the lot burned because of Heresy!!!

Also my I add I am very impressed with the maturity my topic was handled, I expected to be shot down in flames. So it's nice to know there are other sympathetic souls out there.

*Looks at the burning flames over yonder hill*

Sure we did, just look at over there is the guy complaining we're all naughty children and FFG is going to punish us. Oh and don't forget the customer people, they had quite a lot of burner to add.

Now that it's over however, I can sigh with a bit of relief. Now we can talk about the actual game instead of principles.
