Hello again X-wing fans!
We’re keeping up with our Y-wing streak, this week we’re looking at Kavil from the Scum and Villainy faction. Kavil is just the type of ship I really like.. different from the usual mold the Y-wing fits in.

My favorite Kavil build is PTL, Engine Upgrade, Autoblaster, Unhinged Astromech. I like R4 + Blaster Turret in theory, but I've found he's too easy to block and have his action denied. The Unhinged really opens up the dial and allows you to breeze past enemy ships and get out of arc (but still in Range 1) to get 3 red dice where hits can't be canceled. Green 3's also allow you to shed stress easily, or get the hell out of dodge if you've taken too much damage.
Plenty of food for thought there as I'm just looking at the Scum Y-Wing for my next build.
blaster + r4 is a great gunship, but as said above, lose your action, and its a waste of 30+ pts. Wish he had a enhanced scopes.
I've enjoyed Kavil + VI + Unhinged + autoblaster turret + Engine Upgrade for 31pts of arc dodger-hunterkiller. but then he's pretty much wasted against fat ships.
Here's a build I can't wait to try:

Maybe the EU isn't really necessary, but I just feel like a Kavil who is designed to charge up in your face, throw red dice that can't be canceled, then drop bombs on you can't help but be silly fun.

TBH the swarm was much more effective, but Kavil was really good at clean up. The toughest match was against Brobots because of autothrusters, but because of Kavils maneuverability I used him to flank and shoot within arc at R1 instead of out of arc.
I like the auto blaster idea but for my specific build Kavil comes in at a distance and its tough keeping up within R1.
