Rock Howard: The Forgotten Personality

By MisterBadguy, in UFS Deck Building

Alright folks, I'm really looking to build a Rock Howard deck using the promo, but I have no idea what the heck to do with it. It makes me sad that one of my favorite Fatal Fury/King of Fighters characters is tough to build and almost unplayable. I have a deck to layout, but it's just based on what I think would work, which isn't saying much >.< (Note: The current tournament format in my location is legacy :D ) oh well, here it goes:

Rock Howard: The Forgotten Fighter of UFS

Main Personality : Rock Howard Promo

Deck Size: 62 (63 With Main Personality)

Face Cards (2) : Rock Howard Starter x2

Attacks (22) : Kuzuryu Reppa x4

Juni's Cannon Spike x4

Sakura's Shinku Hadoken x4

Psycho Sword x4

Power Dunk x4

Seichu Nidan Tsuki x2

Foundations (32) : Commitment to Excellence x4

Return to Southtown x4

Regal Bearing x4

Prankster x4

Fight or Flight x4

Son of a Tycoon x4

Valuable Experience x4

Without a Trainer x4

Assets (3) : White Gi x3

Actions (5) : All or Nothing x2

Tag Along x3

The Strategy: Very simple...defence: Defend and get momentum off reversals to the best of your abilities. Then when you go on offence, use All or Nothing, then barrage the crap out of them using Seichu Nidan Tsuki and whatever attacks you may have. If you don't have Seichu Nidan Tsuki or All or Nothing in your hand, fetch them with Tag Along. Like I said, I have no idea, but I thought it was creative enough, and I think it could work.

Hopefully someone will read this and give me good advice ^^;;

Promo Rocky excels at playing All-based Hand Control. Consider the power of Fortune and Glory, Saikyo-ryu, Bitter Rivals, and Yoga Adept. I ran this deck, and even without the inclusion of BRTs and Addes it was a pretty frustrating match-up for most opponents. demonio.gif

Since you're running Seichu and Reppa, consider adding Lord of the Makai for momentum-gen.

Also, the loss of Mil Rank means that you will have to consider recuring cards differently, either by splashing Order and playing Kabuki Artist (not a horrible idea since it'll synergize very well with LotM), or by running Hero of Southtown for an extra recursion mechanic from your Momentum (again, LotM's second cool ability).

Anyway...hope this helps some. Promo Rock Howard is definitely one of my favorite characters, and yea, i've tried about 5 different builds with him. What makes him so difficult to build is the exact opposite problem from his horrible Starter version: Promo Rocky is sooo flexible in what he can do, it's hard to focus on one main idea and go with it.

Try out my suggestions and see how they work for ya. Best of luck to ya.

same sugestions as rockstar with the adition of unorthodox training and dan's tuant.

Thanks alot guys, this is a really big help. It's pretty awesome to find someone else who wants to run rock :D I cant wait to try this out!

actauly i don't want to run him, i just looked into the deck becuase i got my toukas handed to me by someone playing him off all.

Seriously, if you have them or can borrow them, I'd replace Son of a Tycoon with Blood Runs True.

Yea, mean card, but...whatevs...

you might wanna add KFT and ryu's shin shuruiken.

Agreed. I'd take out Zesso and Tetsu Zanko for these two cards; well worth it, imo.
