♦ Expansion Release Dates (Waves, Aces, Epic) to wave 19 - Unoffical

By gabe69velasquez, in X-Wing

After 3 years of x-wing they released a 3rd faction. So after another three years we'll see a forth?

Find me 35 civilian defense force ships (or some other unique theme) that you would buy and I will do a chart with a fourth faction.

Missing the point, your assuming FFG handles their x-wing releases stay exactly the same pattern as they have in the past. I don't see x-wing lasting another 7 years of new releases the rules system is too simple and at some point their going to run out of design space for these new ships. Also gamers are going to eventually get bored of x-wing and move on to the new hotness.

You might say "But the new movies are coming out x-wing's going to be more popular then ever!" What I think is more likely is that x-wing will get lost among the tidal wave of starwars merchandise and likely passed over for new games.

At some point will get the 2.0 treatment like descent got reworked and re-branded for all the episode seven ships maybe having rules for all the old x-wing ships in it.

and we'll all front up the cash for it.

I don't see their release dates happening exactly the same, as I keep saying, the chart is one variation/version.

I may sound like a purist but I don't imagine they need to do a full 2.0 rule revision, maybe a second edition with the FAQ trimmed into the rulebook and included with it.

I see the miniatures coming first and the new abilities and rules as second, so when you talk about limited design space I see people happy with new pilots and new miniatures and limited design space not mattering.

FFG didn't predict the game would be as popular as it is, so I would expect you underestimate it's longevity as well.

No this one is not a joke thread, like the wave 11 one,

Yes! First shout out.

I'll be seriously surprised if they can sustain X-Wing for more than another 2-3 years.

These are the 36 miniatures that will have been release in the past two years.

I predict the next 5 years will have 18 miniatures average each also.

18, 36, 52, 70, 88, 106, 124.

I'm sure plenty of detractors with think of reasons it won't happen,

but I'd say they are all trumped by one factor, and that is FFG profit.

This list has 80 ships on it, 36+80= 116.

I'd have no problem adding 8 more.

Best part of this? Prequel ships! Including the N-1 in 2016! I know it's all speculation, but really, unless they keep digging through the bottom barrel of EU ships, no reason to discard well made canon ships.

I could create an equally meaningful chart by throwing darts at a Star Wars poster.

And, you won't, cause you're all talk.

Your best and only talent is mocking what you are jealous of.

I hope by canon ships you mean the ones on this list:

Category: Rebel Alliance starfighter classes

...because the N-1 is technically a Rebel Alliance starfighter.

as is the Aggressive ReConnaissance-170 starfighter.

Edited by gabe69velasquez

I think you missed my inference; it would be equally meaningful because there is absolutely no meaning to the way you're presenting data.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the ARC-170 the starfighter from the Clone Wars era with 2 forward facing pilots, a rear facing gunner, 2 large wings with underslung laser cannons and 4 expanding S-Foils? If that ever gets released I'd have to buy 2...or 20

Review_ARC170Silver_still.jpg

It happens to be a favorite of mine as well

It's not two pilots, it's a pilot and a WSO/co-pilot. (And a tail gunner. Who presumably is also flight engineer and/or astrogator.)

ETA: Anybody know if the WSO sits in the front (like on attack helicopters) or in the back (like fighters/attack aircraft)?

The ARC-170 was crewed by three clones: a pilot, a forward gunner who operated the wingtip-mounted lasers, and a tail gunner who operated the rear-mounted cannons. The fighter also carried an astromech droid to perform onboard repairs and navigation. It was also possible for the pilot to operate the wingtip laser cannons if a co-pilot wasn't available

One old ARC-170 was found in an old secret hangar of the Rebel Alliance on the planet Dathomir. The Wookiees Imarrra and Orrekazzapirr took this ARC-170 after they had been freed from the Imperial prison facility and managed to punch a hole through the Imperial blockade around the planet.

I've been looking and haven't found anything on the ARC-170 specifically, although someone made a comment on Amazon.com that describes it as the co-pilot, and I would guess it has to be the middle guy, because he has a worse view than the front guy.

As you can see from the graph, the dates are derived in a very math based way.

The original graph lines followed the "linear trendline" projections very closely.

No this one is not a joke thread, like the wave 11 one,

although I was tempted to call it Official Wave 19 speculation etc.

And yes it was a lot of work, but it is only one variation/version.

If you appreciate this then please give a hand at this thread:

I give you many props for gathering all the dates of all the previous releases. Building a release timeline is easy once you have all the data.

Great job! I'm expecting June 30 as the release for the Raider.

then back at the printer, as thought (rumor says) they had to fix some serious problem(s).

Four previews for one product, could that be a new precedent, it would be telling also.

https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/tag/x-wing-imperial-raider-expansion-pack/?addl_tag=x-wing

I hope that FFG wants to get back on their original schedule and they'll make that effort.

Or perhaps all the rumors are wrong and we'll get it sooner than expected.

Having said that... Star Wars is a franchise built on selling toys: action figures, models, LEGO sets, toy blasters and lightsabers, and now miniatures. So we might just get a bunch of ships, but they may only get brief cameos in the movie. Hell, considering how CGI guys like to throw easter eggs in, we might briefly glimpse the JJ-prise (or the USS Kelvin or Vengeance) and the Serenity. (Not that I expect either ship to play a role in the merchandizing of the film.)

I want to believe this too badly.

This is pretty neat! Thanks for posting this.

It's wishlisting. It can still be seen as interesting. He did pull up some ships that some of us may not have thought of.

I don't get the aversion, is it that it doesn't look like a TIE fighter variant?

That is certainly a huge strike against it, yes.

Everything is TIEs...EVERYTHING IS TIES!!

Expansion Release Dates 2.0

• Aug 2nd 2011 - Sept 19th 2024

• The chart now goes up to wave 22 with (3x49) 147 ships.

• Using the double Epic announcement pattern of the GR75 Transport and CR90 Corvette

• Using the four ship expansions of previous waves instead of one per faction.

Basically, I'm of the opinion that every starship that is playable in A. The X-Wing series, B. The Rogue Squadron series, and C. Star Wars Galaxies, should be available in the game at some point.

Most of those are pretty reasonable. The only part where it gets tricky is the amount of "civilian" craft that are playable in X-Wing Alliance.

Pinook Fighter

Planetary Defense Fighter

Preybird Starfighter

Pursuer Enforcement Ship

R-41 Starchaser

Razor Starfighter

Toscan Starfighter

YT-2000

That's a lot of potential Scum & Villainy...

Is Scum & Villainy specifically only criminal organizations?

That's why I never liked that faction name. It should have been Privateers.

Pinook Fighter - CSA NCF/NP, "The performance of the Pinook was so poor that it was regularly ridiculed by the public."

That just means it'd be super cheap. TIE Fighters don't have to be the only swarm. :P

Most people don't think we'll see a fighter for less than 12 points.

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce that in the sixth wave of starship expansions for X-Wing ™ the galaxy’s Scum and Villainy will join the game's fast-paced space battles as its third faction!

The ranks of the Scum and Villainy faction are filled with many of the Star Wars galaxy’s most notorious bounty hunters, pirates, and Black Sun agents. You’ll find such infamous figures as Boba Fett, IG-88, Greedo, and Prince Xizor. These Scum live outside the law, do their best to remain at the periphery of the ongoing Galactic Civil War, and allow no one – no one – to threaten their profits.
