I'm going to pick up (hopefully) some of the Wave 1 stuff tomorrow. I'm planning on a Neb B, a Gladiator, a CR90, one each of the rebel and imperial fighter packs, an AFmk2, but I'm not sure if I want to get another VSD. I already have the core box, and I don't think it's likely I'll field two VSDs after wave two hits and I have access to ISDs. On the other hand, that will only leave me with a VSD and two GSD (I'll pick up another GSD in a couple of weeks when my FLGS restocks) until wave 2. Is that going to cut it? Are there any 'must have' upgrade cards in the VSD expansion?

Flight Controllers can be very useful in some situations/builds. That card is VSD-set only.

Same with Motti. He's a cheap admiral. But maybe not an issue if you want to use Screed.

Finally the two VSD title cards: Warlord and Corrupter. Warloard can be nice os a VSD II. Corrupter gives TIE BOMBERS a slight boost in speed, but personally I don't think the 4 vs. 5 speed is worht the points.

Thanks. I think I'll just stick with the single VSD from the core set. With two GSDs, some upgrades and fighters I should round out 300 easily enough, and then wave 2 will give me plenty of other options.

Corrupter is worth it if you are fielding Chiraneau, to go from 2 to 3 speed.

Get for two reasons.

1. The cards. As said they'll open more options for you.

2. When the game jumps to 400 points you might find yourself using it.

I have 3 VSDs, 2 from cores and 1 from the expansion. I typically run 2 at 300 pts but at 400 pts I'll likely field 3 from time to time. Id recommend getting a second for the cards and additional list flexibility.

Hmm. By the time the game jumps to 400 points I plan to be using ISDs. I mean, they're just such an iconic part of the Star Wars universe, I don't think I could ever NOT use them! And for the support role I'll be taking Gladiators and maybe Raiders. I just don't see much of a niche for the Victory in my lists and since I've already got one from the core box...

Oh well, we'll see how the budget holds out. I might end up getting one anyway

I think Flight Controllers might be one of the better cards in the game, assuming you build your fleet to take advantage of it.

Expanded Hangar Bays also feels like something most people will want 2x copies of by the time we hit the 400 point standard, and the Vic expansion gives you one of those (assuming you didn't buy two Cores off the bat).

The VSD also comes with XX9 Turbolasers, Intel Officer, and some other great cards that are good to have multiples of

Weeeelll... think about the look of an Imperial-class Star Destroyer escorted by 2 Victory-class Star Destroyers.... Who cares if it will be competitive or not... just think about it and tell me it's not worth getting a second one just to be able to field it...
