What is better 2 Academy pilot or 1 Tempest pilot?

What is better 2 Academy pilot or 1 Tempest pilot?

Ide say dos ties. 6hp combined and 4-6 attack dice depending on range vs 5 hp and 2-3 attack dice. Post raider might be a different story however.

Post raider I'd be temper to say tempest, throw on an accuracy corrector and evade every turn. Try to stay out of range 1 and the tempest would eventually wear the ties down I think.

"better" is too vague to be relevent

what role are you look for these ships to perform?

The ties are going to be better blockers (two of them), more maneuverable (dial), and more damaging (again, two of them)

The advance is going to be more reliable (dat evade, dat guaranteed 2 ships, dem shields...all leading to lesser reliance on green dice)

It's going to depend a lot on who you're facing. If your maneuvering matters at all, the ties should serve you better in that matchup. If facing turrets, the advance should contribute handily to the dice-off

In a 'versus' scenario, currently I'd give it to the Fighters. Post-Raider, I'd favor on the Advanced.

This is assuming equal skill on the part of the players, and dice rolling average.

I'm trying to defeat 2 Brobots? I'm looking for dependable blockers, But i'm losing an Academy every time the Brobots fires. I was wondering what I should take either 2 Tie Fighters or the Tempest with stealth device to block. maybe I should take the doom shuttle?

I'm using Connor Jax with Lone wolf, SD and AT

Mauler Mithel with Predator and SD and BackStabber with SD as flanker

75 points leaving 25 points to spend hence to question above.

If you're trying to run blockers vs brobots, then the Tie Fighters are your best bet. If you're blocking at least 1 IG-88 per turn, you shouldn't be losing a Tie Fighter. An actionless Aggressor shouldn't be able to put out so much firepower that it can punch 3 hull protected by 3 green dice _every turn_.

On the other hand, if you want a good all around tank, a Tempest with Accuracy Corrector is 3 points cheaper, and will simply last for freaking ever. I wouldn't use it as a blocker, but it will give a brobot something to be nervous about when the green dice inevitably fail.

Is he running Predator on those Aggressors? Combined with a Mangler Cannon and the Gunner effect from IG88B that will tear up Academy TIEs. If he is using Predator it might be worth finding two points to bring Obsidians instead.

Both BroBot have Advanced Sensors, One has Lone Wolf the other has Predator.

IG-88A; with Predator, Advance Sensors, Heavy Laser Cannon, Inertial Dampers, IG-2000 and Auto Thrusters

IG-88B; with Lone Wolf, Advance Sensors, Manger Cannon, Inertial Dampers, IG-2000 and Auto Thrusters

IG-88A After you perform an attack that destroys the defender, you may recover 1 shield.

IG-88B Once per round, after you perform an attack that does not hit, you may perform an attack with an equipped secondary weapon.

Depends on the situation.

To me, it sounds like this person is just playing to beat you.. IG88A is, as far as I can tell, very rarely seen and favored for the more well rounded IG88C and sometimes D.

IG88A works against swarms I suppose so if he's recovering shields every time he attacks your weak in comparison TIE's you're in trouble.

I questions the ethics of this person you're playing against and if I were in the same situation I'd change my build to beat his :P

If he's killing the weakest stuff first you should be winning really what's your big gun that's going with the miniswarm?

I don't know what ships you have available but I have never liked ties as blockers in small numbers for the very reason you gave, they are too squishy. Just seems like a recipe for disaster without the good sack of hammers to hit those IG's over the head with. Maybe try taking the 2 academy ties and just use them as disposable bumpers and leave your hitters in a formation to attack as one after you have speed bumped the aggressor B? If you can sacrifice play to down one of those things early I think you could 3 ship the other. I am no expert though so take my advise with a grain of salt, there are far better strategists here :)

Maybe take lone wolf off Jax too and put a predator on him instead for the above scenario.
