Squadron Repaint started

By Nebit, in X-Wing

Hello all,

I just started a Squadron repaint.

I wanted a dirty look for my squadron, but wanted to keep the look similar to the original colors for game-play sake.

I like the idea of freelancers, pirates, mercenaries, and privateers, but had already started collecting Rebels.

.

Repainted bright white, red, blue, yellow, then a black wash.

Will add detail, and flat seal.

How dirty they really are;

excellent color scheme and weathering, although i might suggest thinning your red just a little bit, it comes off as really, really strong, at least on camera. Other than that it looks great.

Looking good. A wing especially. What's your formula?

Thanks, trying to keep them pretty basic first time around, when I get repeats I will venture into more custom schemes.

Yes, yellow, red, and inside the YT-2400 orange are all covered with a thinned out Tamiya Clear Colors corresponding color to make them really really strong, not entering them in a painting contest, just want to keep track of my squadron.

Here is a good article on the Tamiya, (not my article);

I kinda like it. It's like the crew got out of their really beaten up and battered ships, then slapped on some paint they had lying about to set up a unified colour theme.:)

Exactly. Example; WWII German tanks were rust, dark gray, mustard, brown, and a green (all sorts of various orders from high command, see link) then the commanders in the field could paint however they chose, if they even had the other colors available, lol... and in winter there was just a white-wash issued.

So, I figured "The Rebels" would be in a similar situation as Germany in WWII, and could not spare or afford the RS-W1 Units (Robo Ship Wash) and Leia had held the annual Bikini Ship Wash to raise money for the Rebellion already.

.

:D
