Lightsabres

By RebelDave, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

So just been browsing the F&D beta book... and ive noticed all the Lightsabres presented in that book do not have the Vicious quality.

In fact the only way to add this quality is to use a Kryat Dragon Pearl for the crystal.

Yet in Edge and Age, the Lightsabre entry lists them as have Vicious 2.. which feels more accurate given their nature.

Theres nothing in the Beta Updates that adds this in, and I was wondering why the sudden change? It causes a disparity for anyone who happens to transition from game to game... their basic Sabre suddenly becomes less effective?

I get that in Edge and Age, they are going to be incredibly rare if you are playing 'as intended' in the settings, while in FaD they would be far far more common, so it would be a balance issue... but it seems abit... disjointed.

How would you deal with this particular situation?

The sabers introduced in EotE and AoR are maxed out sabers. F&D introduces sabers as basic weapons that then need to be upgraded.

Agree with this, I do ^^

But the only way to get vicious in FaD is the kryat dragon pearl and that's only vicious 1. While the edge and age ones are vicious 2

So you can never max a sabre to edge levels using FaD

Take the Illum crystal, complete all mods, you end up with same damage, crit, and qualities as an AoR, or EotE saber.

FaD sabers are built by the owner, AoR and EotE sabers are discovered treasures and inherited heirlooms.

The Barab Ingot, Ilum Crystal, Krayt Pearl, and Mephite Crystal all have Vicious potential when upgraded, with the Krayt Pearl ending at a burly Vicious 4.

As stated, if you mod an Ilum Crystal to its maximum capability, it ends up with identical stats to the lightsabers found in EotE and AoR.

My apologies! I just have missed that paragraph!

I doff my cap to you both and stand corrected!

Thank you sirs!
