My royal guard champion

Here's my royal guard champion. Overall I'm very happy with it and the only thing that I dislike a little is the sword handle. In the picture that I used as a reference (the FFG's picture where the royal guard stands in front of the yellow light), the handle seems coppery or brownish. I didn't quite get that though in the camera's photo the sword handle shows the brown tint.

I'm most happy with the leg armor which turned out pretty well. I think I have to learn to use my camera better since it seems to miss some of the highlights I did like the Wild Rider Red highlights on the muscles.This figure was a fun project.

Weapon handle

Nuln Oil-Agrax Earthshade-Lahmian Medium mix (roughly 33/33/33 mix. Probably should have used more brown. In life, the handle looks more black than brown)

Blades

Runefang Silver

Nuln Oil

Necron Compound (this stuff is great when drybrushed lightly just on the sharpened edge of the blades. Really effective)

Cape:

Abbadon Black

Russ Grey

Nuln oil+Lahmian Medium mix (50/50)

Big thanks to Sorastro whose Royal Guard and Vader videos I used as a reference on how to paint the different areas. Now that I painted this, I guess I can move on to Vader. I didn't want to fail painting him. You know what happens to those who fail Vader. :)

try a white background for your pictures if you're having details lost in translation.

Thanks for the tip. I think I'll have to try that. I also need to study how to use my camera properly. :)

I use it so rarely or photograph at all rarely these days.

my friend who taught me how to paint also taught me that. a white background helps with light spreading and absorbtion. Helps light up a miniature without washing it out. and helps the minis colors pop out more.
