I honestly thought...

You could land your miniature on an asteroid!

I mean, I've been reading the forums, to familiarize myself with the game, the rules, the "culture" and whatnot - and have occasionally heard it spoken, and seen it written, that your minis can "land" on an asteroid.

In my head, I am picturing a "crash landing" - but a "landing" nonetheless.

So I was curious to know whether one could remain on the asteroid, rather than fly off it on the next turn. I was half-way through writing a rules clarification request in the rules forum when I reasoned that rather than bother the community with something I am too lazy to look up, I should look it up, and only ask the question if I couldn't find an answer in the rules or FAQ.

So I had a pretty good laugh at myself when I read that while your miniature may end up "landing" on a token after a maneuver, that didn't translate into actually landing on on asteroid.

That got me to thinking - I am probably not the only person who has misinterpreted some rule text in a dumb or funny way.

Anyone else have any gems to share?

I thought the ps0 crit went away after the next round for the first 6 months I played the game.

I thought the same, but I was playing with someone with more experience, and they corrected me right away. It just seemed like the sort of thing you'd be able to cancel or something.

In the two games I lost at our recent regional - I lost because I received this crit in the end game...

I thought for a nearly a year that you couldn't boost or barrel roll off the edge of the board. I thought the rule that prevents you from boosting or barrel rolling onto objects or other ships carried over to the board edge. I do think a blanket rule should apply and you should be able to at least boost or barrel roll onto asteroids.

I am not sure how long that entry* has been in the FAQ but the last time I played one of my opponents cited this notion that you couldn't barrel role/boost off the board and it wasn't the first I had hear that either. Perhaps it was once a thing?

Q: Can a ship decloak or perform a boost or barrel roll action that would cause it to go outside the play area (and thus flee the battlefield)?

A: Yes. If a player performs a boost or barrel roll that causes it to go outside the play area, it flees the battlefield and is immediately destroyed.
